Can't quite decide if 2010 is the New Year or a science fiction novel about the future?  Feels weird to type and write that number.  How many resolutions have you made?  Or, maybe the better question is, how many have you broken?  Sure, sure the regulars are always there: save money, get healthy, spend more time with those you love.

While all those are good, how about becoming more computer literate?  If you are in my age category (lucky you), your children are leaving for college and yes, you will have to learn how to download your own pics on to Facebook now.  In doing my research, it's truly amazing just how many books, CDs, videos, etc. are available to help instruct in all things computereze.  OK, I'll let you know how it goes - better yet, you will hopefully begin to see the fruits of my education in this BizLetter in the coming months!

Rayburn Interchange to Improve Mobility

The NTTA soon will begin building the much-anticipated Hwy 121..now Sam Rayburn Tollway (SRT)/Dallas North Tollway (DNT) interchange, which will feature eight new direct-connect bridges between SRT and the DNT in the cities of Plano and Frisco in Collin County.  The project involves completing fourth-and fifth-level ramp connections between the SRT and the DNT, adding new ramp access to the Legacy Business Park area and making local access improvements near the new SRT/DNT interchange.

Who Said That?
All life is an experiment.  The more experiments you make the better.  ~ Ralph Waldo Emerson

Don't go around saying the world owes you a living.  The world owes you nothing.  It was here first.  ~ Mark Twain

He who has a why to live can bear almost any how.  ~ Friedrich Nietzsche

I think I've discovered the secret of life - you just hang around until you get used to it.  ~ Charles M. Schulz

Office 2007 Extensions

Office 2007 brought a new file format that ends with the letter X. Therefore, a Word document now has the file extension docx instead of doc. PowerPoint is pptx, and Excel is xlsx. Although Microsoft made a few attempts to add a few new features, the primary reason for this change is to create an incompatibility between Office 2007 and other versions.

Therefore, if someone sends an email with a docx attachment and you're still using Office 2003 or earlier, you'll try to open the file, but you won't be able to open it. In my view, this is a hard ball technique to get users to upgrade more quickly to Office 2007.

Fortunately, you can download the Office 2007 compatibility pack which will allow you to open 2007 files with older versions.
