Greetings!

How did it get to be May already?  Are we the only ones still trying to remember to write 2009 instead of 2008?  May is a great time to reevaluate your office space.  Just as we put away our winter clothes and exchange them for our summer frocks, companies need to periodically evaluate how their office space is working for them.  We know, we know, we can already hear you, "but we're locked in our lease for another three years - what can you do to help us even if we do feel that change is necessary?"

Sometimes people are locked in and there is no way around that.  However, prior to a complete lease review, there is no way to know that for sure.  We are currently helping companies who are sub-leasing part or all of their space in an effort to more closely align their needs with reality.  On the other hand, should your company be growing and in need of additional space this is a fantastic time to approach your landlord about a "blend and extend."  That's where you expand and/or extend your lease and get a reduction of your rental rate.  Landlords are hungry right now and it's a tenant market.  Please contact our office for a complete lease review free of charge.  We're happy to do this for any of your referrals as well.
The Inside Scoop on Moving

Daryl FloodLet's be honest. An office move is disruptive and can have a huge impact on the productivity of the company. So it must be planned and managed carefully.

One of my recommended service providers is Daryl Flood, Inc. which is a full-service move management company with a 26-year track record. My contact is Craig Mervine and he wrote an article in a legal journal about managing a move successfully. The article is written for law firms, but the concepts apply to all companies.

The County Line

As we become busier and busier with our everyday lives and are caught up in the issues of the day it's easy to lose sight of what all of us have accomplished in making Collin County a quality place to live and raise families.  Below are some snapshots of data which, I hope, will give you a better view of Collin County.  This info is from Joe Jaynes, Collin County Commissioner.

Collin County includes:
  1. 27 cities and towns.
  2. 21 Independent School Districts.
  3. 0 Hospital Districts - Be aware of HB 515, which would make Collin County part of the Parkland Hospital District and would double your county tax rate.
  4. 749,500 estimated population.
  5. 50/50 population split of males to females.
  6. 33.7 years median age.
  7. 25 percent of the population under 18.
  8. 6 percent over 65 years of age.
