| What's the Texas Legislature Doing? |
Ever wonder what happens to a bill pending in legislation? There is a website for tracking any bill being considered in the Texas Legislature. The link is www.capitol.state.tx.us.
Two bills of interest to business owners are House Bills 2227 and 2534. These bills would alter the state's recently revised franchise tax. Currently, businesses with gross income of $300,000 or less are exempt from the margins tax. HB 2227 would raise the small business exemption to $1.5 million while HB 2534 would raise it to $5 million.
You might want to read up on these and contact your representatives to be sure they know what you think. |
