What Cold Winter!
Greetings!
Sure it's hot. And sweaty. And raining. And the mosquitoes are everywhere. But hey... there is still a lot to enjoy about the summer, especially at B3. Not only do we have everything to keep you cool by day (two words for ya: air conditioning!!), we're also making your evenings cooler (and tastier) this month as well, thanks to the launch of our new Night Time Menu (available after 6:30 PM). Enjoy: Caprese salad; Bruchetta; Hot feta dip, BBQ chicken flatbread; Build-your-own quesadilla; and Build-your-own flatbread! So stop by day or night to grab a bite, visit with friends, and just chill! |

June Beers: Shining a Light on Shiner, TX Deep in the heart of Texas sits a tiny town not much bigger than a postage stamp: the little town of Shiner. But wow does that little town pack a wallop, serving as home to the oldest independent brewer in Texas (1909): Spoetzl Brewery, makers of Shiner, where they still practice the art of brewing by hand-crafting each brew one at a time and then aging each Shiner Beer naturally for no less than thirty days to guarantee its exceptionally smooth taste in the tradition of Bavarian Brewmaster, Kosmos Spoetzl. This month we're popping tops of the following Shiner brews:
Shiner Bock This distinctive brew reflects the tradition of genuine Bavarian beers with a rich full-color flavor and deep amber color that brings forth a mellow taste, free of bitter aftertaste, as only a true "Old Country" brew craftsman like Kosmos Spoetzl, could bring to life. 4.4% ABV Shiner Hefeweizen Hefeweizen (Hef-ay-vite-zen) recalls the classic beers of Bavaria as a true unfiltered wheat brew. This beer captures old-world Munich Malt, wheat grist used in a scant 1% of all brews worldwide, orange and lemon zest in a frothy classic example of bottle-conditioned beer. Adding clover honey and yeast just before its bottled touches off a unique, secondary fermentation process inside every bottle before its final release from the brewery. 5.4% ABV Shiner 101st Anniversary Czech Style Pilsner Shiner has a commitment to well-crafted, no frills beers based on classic recipes and bold taste. With just four ingredients, (hops, barley, yeast and water), their 101st anniversary Pilsner is the culmination of more than a century of brewing know-how. A "Czech-Style Pilsner" brewed with Bohemian Hana barley and plenty of Czech Saaz hops, it is a clean, crisp reminder that Shiner always stays true to its roots. 5.5% ABV Shiner Bohemian Black Lager Crafted according to exacting old-world standards with imported Czech Saaz, Styrians Hops and selected roasted malts, this black lager is the darkest beer Spoetzl brews. Initially added to the Shiner family as their 97th Anniversary Brew, the unique and complex flavor of this rare brew found such a following among their customers that they brought it back as a permanent addition. 4.9% AB |
Wines: Small Race Sips + the Return of B3 Sangria Riders are fine tuning their form this month in a series of smaller stage races across Europe and the states in preparation for an epic showdown at the Tour de France in July. So this month, we're showcasing wines from several countries hosting those smaller races, such as France, hosting the Dauphine Libere, and Italy, hosting the Giro del Trentino Alto Adige. Domaine de Longval Tavel Rose, (Rhone Valley, France) The most famous French rosé, Tavel epitomizes the relaxed, cheery gracefulness of the Rhône and southern France. The bright pink hue has always been Tavel Longval's calling card. In addition to its visual appeal, this 100% Grenache Rose' offers surprisingly rich but crisp and dry flavors - a veritable basket of ripe summer fruit. Chateau Greysac '04, (Medoc, France) A beautiful medium bodied left-bank Bordeaux loaded with red fruits with mild tannins upon release. 50% Cabernet, 38% Merlot, 10% Cabernet Franc, and 2% Petit Verdot. Capezzana "Barco Reale" Red Blend, (Tuscany, Italy) Meaning "Royal Property" this wine is a traditional Carmignano blend of 70% Sangeovese, 20% Cabernet Sauvignon, 10% Canaiolo. Soft, voluminous and medium-bodied with great balance.
Snap Dragon Red Blend, (Sonoma, California) One from the home States. This Zinfandel based blend shows hints of toffee and rich flavors of blackberry and plum. 65% Zinfandel, 20% Merlot, 15% Cabernet Sauvignon. Also back this summer is our much-loved (and fairly addictive) B3 Sangria. It's as yummy as ever. Try both blends (each served over fresh fruit and ice): White Sangria: a delicious white wine blend made with a prominent citrus aroma; tangy and sweet tropical flavors with passion fruit; and light cinnamon spice. Red Sangria: this red blend has a distinctly spiced cherry fruity aroma; a blend of cherry, lemon, orange and lime; and a smidge of cinnamon spice. |

Live Music (FREE)
Saturday, June 12 7:30 PM Roger Docking
Local singer/songwriter/producer Roger Docking will be here with his adventurous solo acoustic sound. His performance is described as "spatial, airy; but passionately underscored". His original music is rooted in catchy hooks and elegant guitar work frosted with rich, punchy vocals. His take on off-the-beaten-track cover songs yields a stripped down and powerfully, sometimes playfully, reinterpretation. Those who relax and let the experience unfold are in for wonderful surprises.
Wednesday, June 30 7:30 PM John Elliot
Wow! B3 is seriously reeling in the real deal musicians these days. Our most recent "score": musician, John Elliot, of the band The Hereafter. Not only has John's "tear at your heartstrings folksy music" been featured on Grey's Anatomy, One Tree Hill, NPR, Neil Young's "Living With War" website, and radio stations around the world, John is also friends with B3 favorite: The Blue Hit (which means he's good people!) He's coming through town on June 30th and is treating B3 to a special performance. Sweet! Check out his amazing voice and well-crafted, catchy tunes at his website. Then get yourself here early to see the show, it's sure to be another packed house! |

Seasonal Treats & Drinks
Summer vacation season is here, which always makes us think of bygone childhood summers spent at summer camp: hiking, canoeing, getting eaten alive by mosquitoes (good times!). In that fond tradition, this month's seasonal drinks and treats are hitting the trails with a little Camp Yummy Tummy flavor.

Waffle: Power up for a day camp crafts and poison-ivy avoiding with our B3 Trail Mix Waffle: our usual waffle-of-total-deliciousness, topped with fresh blueberries, chocolate chips and walnuts (yes, of course you can have whipped cream with it, too). Latte: Need a tasty beverage to sip before it's time for camp fire songs? Try our Trail Mix Latte: hazelnut syrup, blueberry syrup, and dark chocolate syrup all blended together with espresso and milk. Served hot or over ice, caffeinated or decaffeinated. Gelato: This month's flavor is peach. Okay, true, that has nothing to do with camping or trails. But, it's peach! Peach is totally a summer flavor! ... (just go with it!)
Dessert: Okay, number one summer camp treat...well, that's s'mores actually, but number two is Rootbeer Floats! Stop by and amp up your sugar/caffeine high with our tasty version, the B3 Rootbeer Gelato Float ($4.79). It's bubbly, creamy and all together dreamy... just like that summer camp co-ed you've had your eye on.
