Happy New Year!
Greetings!
Hey, HEY...Happy New Year, everyone! 2010 is here and we're welcoming it in with great enthusiasm (if for no other reason than...phew!...we all managed to survive 2009! Ha ha). As usual the midnight countdown left us itching to infuse our lives, and the café, with some fresh new energy. To that end, we'll be introducing you to some of our favorite NEW musicians, artists, and great charities in the months ahead. And, we'll also be adding some fun new surprises to our menu (in addition to the B3 favorites you've come to love, of course). Oh, and mark your calendars: B3 will be celebrating its 2nd Birthday in March, so there will be lots of fun memories for us to share together around that. Yep...2010 is shaping up to be a pretty good year so far. So let's raise a glass to old friends, new friends, and great days ahead. Cheers, everyone! (Pictured above - Team B3! January Beers: Mixing It Up for the New Year
We've got a little of this and a little of that on the beer menu this month. Hey, it's a New Year, why not mix it up a bit, right?
Kicking things off right, in honor of the first major stage race of the 2010 Cycling Calendar (the Tour Down Under); we are featuring Foster's Lager. Known for sustaining its bold taste from the first refreshing sip to the very last drop, Fosters was created by the Foster brothers in 1887 and has become the brew of choice for die-hard beer lovers Down Under.
To celebrate the New Year, we're adding a new beer to our menu: Blue Moon Belgian White (CO). This brew pours to a cloudy yellow color with a thick foamy head and a spicy fruit nose. The palate is light and malty yet at the same time tart with wheat. The beer also boasts strong spicy notes of the coriander and orange peel it is brewed with. This is an excellent Belgian-style wheat beer. Try it with a slice of orange.

And just because they are sensational and we can't get enough of them, we're also featuring two beers from California's Stone Brewery. First up, the Pale Ale, Stone Brewery's flagship ale (a Southern CA interpretation of the classic British Pale Ale). It is robust and full flavored with a delicate hop aroma complimented by a rich maltiness. Second, we're serving up Stone Brewery's India Pale Ale, a medium bodied, refreshing ale with light-medium malt character and a heavy dose of over the top hops! Two full weeks of "dry hopping" give this beer its abundant hop aroma and crisp hop flavor. Enjoy! |
January Wines: Southern Hemisphere
The 2010 World Cycling Season is kicking off this month in beautiful South Australia with The Tour Down Under. Modeled after the Tour de France as a way to bring a major annual road cycling event to South Australia, The Tour Down Under began as a six day event that so captivated spectators (bringing out impressive numbers in every city and tiny town en route) that the race grew in leaps and bounds every year since. Now world-class teams and riders compete on the streets of South Australia in a bid to win the Ochre Leaders Jersey. In celebration of the Aussie Cycling Season kick-off, B3 is sending our first 2010 wine list "Down Under" as well. New Harbor, Sauvignon Blanc (Marlborough New Zealand): Enticing bouquet of citrus, passion fruit and guava, with a crisp finish. Archetype, Cabernet - Shiraz Blend (Barossa Australia): The nose of this rich Cabernet-Shiraz blend announces the presence of classic Barossa Shiraz, with notes of blackberry, blueberry and cassis and a hint of dried sage. Cabernet Sauvignon is clearly present in the structure and complexity of this dense, full-bodied wine. Snap Dragon Red Blend (Sonoma, California): Okay, not exactly from "Down Under" but still amazing. You'll savor this Zinfandel-based blend with its hints of toffee and rich flavors of blackberry and plum. 65% Zinfandel, 20% Merlot, 15% Cabernet Sauvignon. SPECIAL THIS MONTH: TOUR DOWN UNDER WINE TOUR |
$10 Tour: Not sure which wine to try? Take a tour first and then decide. Try a 2 oz. sample of each of the 3 featured wines and then pick your favorite and order a full glass! Happy Travels. |

Weekend Morning Breakfast at B3: Belgian Waffles and Winter Oatmeal
Waffles, people! Is there really anything more that needs to be said? They are seriously fluffy, incredibly delectable and made-to-order. Topped with with either butter and syrup or fresh fruit and whipped cream. We'll say it again: WAFFLES!! Come and get 'em!! (Served fresh every Saturday and Sunday morning from 9-11 AM only.)
Still feeling hungry? Perhaps something heartier? A little Winter Oatmeal should do the trick. This piping hot oatmeal is topped with raisins, Craisins, sliced almonds, brown sugar, granola, honey, and a hearty sprinkling of cinnamon. One customer recently described it as "crazy delicious". Yep, we totally agree! | |
