Happy Thanksgiving!
Greetings!
Okay, October was a big giant fake out, as far as the weather was concerned but now, (ahhhhhh!) cooler weather is finally here. We've opened up the doors and we're switching up the menu to suit the season.
Don't forget you have until this Friday, November 13th, to bring in non-perishable food donations for the Cub Scouts food drive. Let's fill up their bin and help them fill up some hungry bellies this winter!
We've had a great time watching the UCF Football games with you at the cafe! This month there are 3 more regular season games left, so if you can't make it to the games, stop by and watch them with us. Click here for the UCF Football schedule. Go Knights! |

| November Beers: Bring on the Belgians
The Cyclo-cross season is here ("World Cup" season is September-January), a fast-paced form of bicycle racing which consists of many laps of a short (2.5-3.5 km or 1.5-2 mile) course featuring pavement, wooded trails, grass, steep hills and obstacles. Riders are required to quickly dismount, carry their bike while navigating the obstruction and then remount in one motion. Though rapidly growing into a global sport, Cyclo-cross has its roots firmly embedded in northern Belgium (where the best and most famous riders and races hail from). And the best part of the entire race venue? The beer tent! So, this month, we're featuring five classic Belgian beers to help give you an authentic taste of the action:
- Leffe Blonde: a dry, fruity, lightly spiced beer, full and creamy - a perfect balance of strength and subtlety with a malty aroma and a subtle, sweet finish.
- Stella Artois: first brewed as a Christmas beer and named Stella for the Christmas star (and Artois after Sebastian Artois, founder of the brewery) this is the optimum premium lager, with a full flavor and clean crisp taste
- Grimbergen Dubbel: a dark burgundy, top-fermented Abbey Beer with a full body. The mixture of different malts and the use of dark candy sugar produce a delicious sweet toffee taste with a brandy-like finish.
- Westmalle Trappist Dubbel: This superb Trappist Ale
(from one of only seven Trappist breweries in the world) is brown-amber color, with a subtle dark-malt aroma balanced by Belgian yeast character. Deeply malty, with a subtle and dry finish that hints at tropical fruit.
- Chimay Premium Red Ale: Topped with a creamy head this ale gives off a light, fruity apricot aroma and imparts a silky sensation to the tongue and a refreshing light touch of bitterness.
We kicked off our autumn beer selection last month with the world famous Shipyard Pumpkinhead Ale. This crisp, refreshing wheat ale, with delightful aromatics and subtle spiced flavors with hints of nutmeg and cinnamon, was a HUGE hit so we'll be keeping it around for another month. (You're welcome!) |
| Seasonal Drinks
The weather is FINALLY cool. Not promising to be cool... ACTUALLY cool. So come on in and cozy up with one of our new seasonal lattes: Snowman Latte (almond syrup and white chocolate added to your choice of milk and espresso), Raspberry & White Chocolate Latte, or the scrumptious Gingerbread Chai Latte. Want something caffeine free? Try a tasty Milk Steamer - a shot of flavored syrup added to your choice of milk and frothed to perfection. It's a delicious, low calorie, steamy treat.
Need a cup of joe, instead? Our coffee of the month is "Alternative Fuel" from Jittery Joes Coffee Roasting Company. We think you will love this Brazilian coffee roasted medium and dark then blended together with nutty accents mixed with butter and fruit. And as a bonus: proceeds from sales of "Alternative Fuel" help support BikeAthens and it's campaign to help the Athens community embrace a healthier form of transportation. Let's hope Orlando can follow suit, too! Do you prefer more bubbles in your beverage? Well, brace yourself because we're busting out some truly berry fabulous Champagne-tinis this month (champagne with a splash of martini mix) that will surely deliver you to your happy place. Available in Pomegranate and Blueberry, all we can say is: prepare yourself. Your taste buds won't know what to do with this much deliciousness. |

November Wines: The Blends, Part II
We're keeping our popular red blends from last month around through November while adding a new wine that has been requested by numerous customers, Sterling Sauvignon Blanc. This great wine is crisp, fruity, and highly pleasing with zesty grapefruit, citrus, fig, melon, passion fruit and pineapple notes topped with hints of lemon verbena for a fresh floral-herbal scent. |
| Coming Soon!
Date: TBA... but get yourself prepared; because we are about to drop the most fluffy and delectable made-to-order Belgian waffles on you... and you will be utterly defenseless against them! Soon to be served on Saturdays and Sundays (from 9-11 AM only) with fresh fruit, syrup, whip cream and butter. And, psst... guess what else! There has even been talk of gelato-topped waffles. Oh yes! Seasonal Soup and Sandwich
Cooler weather calls for warm and hearty soup. This month we're serving up a tasty Cheese and Red Potato Chowder with large chunks of red potatoes folded into a rich blend of American and Cheddar cheeses and fresh cream. This vegetarian soup is back by popular demand - come and find out for yourself why it is a customer favorite!
Craving a nice healthy but hearty sandwich? Give "Ivan" a try. This Cuban-style sandwich is made with ham, turkey, yellow mustard, provolone cheese and pickles pressed in a wheat wrap and is named after the famous Cuban sprinter, Ivan Dominguez!

| B Creative: Artist of the Month:
Tic Bowen This month's B Creative Artist, Tic Bowen, has caused quite a sensation at the café with his bold, bright, unexpected paper-collage artwork. It's unlike anything we've showcased to date and people are loving it, with several of his pieces selling before we even hosted his Artist Open House on November 7th. To quote Tic himself, "I fell in love with pop and abstract art in high school. Interests in folk art elements appealed to me sometime after, the result of these three styles, I believe reflects what is hanging in B3. I am really into functional art as well....I love to make clocks, tables, book shelves...There are a few clocks that will be on display at the cafe. Childish, colorful and fun, Enjoy!"
So stop by the café and see his amazing work for yourself. You might just find a piece that you can't live without.

Water Anyone?... Help! B3 Needs Volunteers!!
Saturday December 6th
B3 is super excited to be working with Florida Citrus Sports (FCS) as a water station location for the OUC 1/2 Marathon & 5K on Saturday, December 6th! There were approximately 2,500 participants last year! So to make this an unabashed success, FCS is asking us to guarantee a large amount of volunteers: 30, to be exact. Not a problem, we said, because we know how great our B3 family and friends are!
