Going Green for December and all of 2009!
To quote Kermit the Frog, "It ain't easy being green", but that is not going to stop us from continuing to green-up the Cafe. As more and more eco-friendly products become available and affordable, we'll continue to add them to our line-up. Recently we added corn cups, sugarcane to-go containers and recycled to-go bags. As we try to do our part to lessen our impact on the environment we encourage you to do the same in 2009!

| Greetings!
Happy Holidays! We find ourselves in disbelief that it is December already. This year we opened the cafe, celebrated our 1-year wedding anniversary, nursed Darrell back to health and are managing to stay in business during a recession. None of this would have been possible without you, and we are so thankful! We are also thankful for a very cool opportunity that presented itself last month. A group of students from Full Sail contacted us to do a project...a documentary on the cafe! After numerous trips to the cafe to shoot footage and conduct interviews, following us home one night for video of the recycling bins and tagging along on a scooter on a Thursday morning bike ride, the crew produced an amazing 7 minute film! Click this link to see it: Bikes, Beans and Bordeaux DocumentaryWe have a lot of fun events and foods planned for the month: - the B-Come a Legend contest is getting a rest this month as we celebrate our team and their creativity with a special, limited-time dinner menu. - we are offering home-made hot cocoa and milk steamers! You pick the milk, we add the chocolate or flavor syrup and steam it until creamy and piping hot! - if you enjoy the Cheesy Potato Chowder, get it while you can! This month we will be serving a delicious Roasted Red Pepper and Tomato Bisque once the Potato soup is gone.
Keep reading for more updates and a special B3 treat at the end of the newsletter! |

Holiday Wines - Something for Everyone
Since the holidays are the time for giving, we are featuring two wines from Rosenblum Vineyards, Chateau La Paws Cote de Bone Blanc and Cote de Bone Roan. Wine maker and long-time veterinarian, Kent Rosenblum produced these two Rhone- style blends as a tribute to the animals that bring us so much joy. A portion of the proceeds from every bottle goes to charities bringing together animals and people with disabilities. We are also featuring a wonderful Terrazas Cabernet Sauvignon from Mendoza, Argentina. In addition, since we get frequent requests for Reisling wines, we have brought in a delightful one by Sterling. As a special holiday treat we'll have Gluhwein, a hot spiced wine also known as mulled wine. In essence, this warm and tasty beverage consists of red wine and spices heated to just below boiling. Gluhweins date back to 500BC and have been part of numerous European traditions for many years. So why not start your own holiday tradition right here at B3! For more information on Gluhwein and other holiday traditions around the world, check out the current edition of Playground magazine! |

December is Terrapin Beer Month This month we feature several beers from one of our favorite breweries, the Terrapin Beer Company. Terrapin Beer Company was born when two brewers met while working together at a microbrewery in Atlanta. Looking around at what other breweries in the SE were doing, Spike and John felt they could make a contribution. Realizing that anyone could make just another pale ale, brown ale or stout, Spike and John set their sights on crafting beers unlike any that were currently available in the SE. Terrapin introduced its first beer, the Rye Pale Ale in April of 2002. Six months later while only available on draft in Athens, Terrapin's sole offering won the American Pale Ale Gold Medal at the 2002 Great American Beer Festival. Only six months old, Terrapin had arrived in style! Along with the Terrapin beers (Rye Pale Ale, India Brown Ale, Big Hoppy Monster Imperial Red Ale and Golden Ale) this month we also bring in Chimay Red Cap, Sierra Nevada's seasonal hit, Celebration Ale, Leffe Blonde and Shiner Bock. If beer is not your preferred beverage of choice, we also have a great Woodpecker Cider. |

OUC 1/2 Marathon and B3 Team Up!
We are excited to announce that B3 has been chosen by Florida Citrus Sports (FCS) as a water station location for the OUC 1/2 Marathon & 5K on Saturday, December 6th! This is a huge and wonderful opportunity for us. There were approximately 2,500 participants last year!
We still need a few volunteers so if you are interested please let us know. We have lined up some great things including free t-shirts, coffee and bagels and chair massages (compliments of Massage Solutions) for our volunteers. We'll also have the great sounds of the Forefathers to liven things up as the runners go by. We'll be setting up at 6:30 and ready to cheer the runners on by 7:00. |

Movie Night at B3!
Featuring: "PRO"
Thursday, December 18th at 7:30PM
It's time for the last movie night of 2008! This month we'll be showing the 2003 feature documentary, "PRO". This film features an all-star cast of famous cyclist including, Bobby Julich, Chris Horner, Freddy Rodrigez and Tim Johnson.
"PRO" will give the average cycling fan a fascinating look inside the minds of several of their favorite racers. The footage exposes the sport not only on the road, but also behind the scenes. For an outsider, it will give a great understanding of the teamwork and tactics that are involved in winning a bike race.
This is a well put together documentary that is interesting to both the dedicated fan and novice alike.
As usual, the movie is free and so is the popcorn! |
