Funtown Splashtown USA Press Release
2010 Summer Preview

Saco, Maine - Funtown Splashtown USA is preparing for Opening Day on Saturday May 15 at 11:00am (weather permitting), the park's 44th season in Southern Maine.
Fifty Years Later
In the spring of 1960, Ken and Violet Cormier opened the Marvel Drive-In Restaurant on US Route 1 in Saco. Fifty years later, Ken and Violet are still here, but now they own and operate Funtown Splashtown USA, Maine's largest amusement and water park. This feat hasn't gone unnoticed. In fact, the Institute for Family-Owned Business, a Maine-based non-profit organization has nominated Funtown Splashtown USA for its 'Leon Gorman Award', honoring a family-run business with more than 25 employees. The winner will be announced a special ceremony on May 17, 2010 at the Portland Marriott at Sable Oaks.

Always Improving
Last year, the park added a new roller coaster, the Wild Mouse, which was a hit with guests. This year the park will be improving the two midway games sections in the park. Many of the games will be moving to new places.

Everyone Wants A Discount
The park will be extending its normal pre-season discount into June. With the exception of Memorial Day weekend, guests will save up to $7 off each bracelet through June 11. Other regular discounts, including military family discounts have also been increased to up to $5 off each person. Complete discount information is available on the park's website, www.funtownsplashtownusa.com.

Great Park Entertainment
This summer, Funtown Splashtown USA will welcome back the Locke Family of magicians, illusionists, and entertainers with performances each day except Saturday from July through mid-August. Funtown USA will once again host 'Soul Jam', a fun-filled day of Christian music on Saturday May 29.

Parents Get Their Own Day
Each year, the park opens its gates to parents with FREE admission. The Mother's Day Celebration will be held on Sunday May 16. The Father's Day Celebration will be held on Sunday June 20. Free gifts will be handed out to the first 200 free guests each day.

A Salute To The Military
For the first time ever, Funtown Splashtown USA will be offering a day of FREE admission to the nation's military personnel. This special day will take place on a day when the nation pauses to remember our fallen soldiers, Memorial Day - Monday May 31. Anyone who presents a valid military ID will receive FREE admission into the park, and his or her family will be half price.

Educational Programs
For the second year, the park will be holding the 'Funtown Music Festival', which will be held on Saturday May 15. Concert bands and choirs from local middle and high school will perform and work with clinicians on how to improve their skills.

Funtown Splashtown USA has a fantastic education program called 'Physics Day'. For nearly 20 years, thousands of high school students from Maine and New Hampshire have learned how the principles of physics apply in the real world. This year, Physics Day is on May 20 and May 21. This year, the park has added a Middle School Physics program to the educational lineup.

Community Responsibility
Funtown Splashtown USA has always been a leader in community responsibility. The park donates hundreds of one-day and season passes each year.

On Sunday May 23, the park will again be partnering with the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children's (NCMEC) Take 25 program. "Take 25 is a program for the NCMEC with the goal to heighten awareness about children's safety issues." according to the website,
www.take25.org. The park will be handing out information on the program, including Child ID kits all day.

On Memorial Day, Monday May 31, the park will be offering FREE admission to active military personnel, and their families will receive half-price admission. This is the first year the park will be offering such a discount.

This year, the annual 'Food For Fun Weekend' is scheduled for Saturday June 26 and Sunday June 27. As always, a portion of that weekend's gate sales will be donated to the Saco Food Pantry.
