A special opportunity has presented itself for Westwood students to share the "beautiful game" of soccer with Haitian children who suffered the effects of the devastating earthquake that rocked Haiti in 2010. Joel Lilavois, who has coached many Westwood students, young and old, is originally from Haiti and has played soccer for their national team. Joel has joined the Play It Forward (PIF) non-profit organization to bring back the game of soccer to the children of Haiti in the midst of their economic recovery. PIF is looking to reach children of all ages, and is asking for soccer gear donations from other children.
Joel will be traveling back to Haiti in January 2012, and the PBC will be collecting any gently used or new soccer clothes, gear or equipment that you may have to donate to this cause. Joel will personally deliver it to the children in the PIF program in Haiti, assuring that your donation directly changes another child's life for the better. Please drop any donations in the box located in the front lobby labeled "Play It Forward" between now andJanuary 10th. The PBC will deliver all donations directly to Joel for transport to Haiti with him later in January. |
