Message from the PBC President |
|
We're 2 months into the school year, and I think our family has finally hit our stride. Each year for us has been better than the last, and much of that has to do with the amazing community that is Westwood - the teachers, the staff, the students & their families. In these first couple of months, the Parent Booster Club has been privileged to bring the community together through our annual Fall Reception, class and level back to school parties, Girl's Night Out & Java for the Mamas. Our main event of the year - The Fall Fling - is coming up in just 2 weeks. It promises to be a night packed with entertainment, incredible items up for bid and a great crowd. The auction is the largest fundraiser the PBC hosts, and its success year over year is due to each and every one of our Westwood families. I know many parents are currently involved in preparing, volunteering and soliciting donations. Thank you for your time and efforts! Continue reading for more information and exciting details. We look forward to sharing November 11th with you! Amber Bonlie

This year we have great sports opportunities for WW students. Special thanks to Mary Anne Lucas, our PBC Sports Coordinator, for identifying these activities for our students!
Soccer 3v3 and 4v4 Tournament:
The Quickfoot "Reindeer Games" 3v3 and 4v4 Soccer Tournament will be held this year on Saturday, December 10th at Richland College in Richardson, TX! We will be looking to enter teams of boys, girls or co-ed in all age brackets.
This is a ONE DAY event, and it is a great opportunity for classmates to play together. As always, we will be looking for a parent to volunteer to coach their child's team, if possible. Practices are up to each coach/team. Teams must play up to the age of their oldest player, but the tournament director will try to keep everyone playing in their own age group if at all possible.
Talk with your kids and his/her friends to get a team together (see maximum roster limits below,) and submit teams to Mary Anne Lucas at grover711@me.com NO LATER THAN November 21st. Mary Anne will get forms to teams and coaches before Thanksgiving Break, and forms will be due November 30th. Contact Mary Anne with any questions, as rules and other details are available.

Fencing:
The Fencing Institute of Texas (FIT) offers classes for every age from beginners to seasoned competitors. Among the many skills covered, fencers learn how to win and lose graciously, as well as to think strategically. FIT extends a special invitation to all Westwood students to try out fencing during a free introductory class. Classes are every Friday evening at 7pm, for all ages.
For details, email info@fenceintexas.org or go to www.fenceintexas.org. FIT is a non-profit 501(c)(3) premier member club of the United States Fencing Association teaching all three Olympic weapons (foil, epee and sabre).
