Scott OWLES
A Cast of Castings
April 14 - May 1 . 2012

Opening reception with artist: Saturday, April 14th - 2pm to 4pm

Gesturing puppets take and set the stage for Scott Owles' first solo exhibition with the gallery.  When to draw the bottom line? Who pulls the strings? How to know when to fold?  A Cast of Castings offers timely questions to ponder through skillfully composed large scale canvas works.

Scott Owles

Owles' specific use of puppets, a representation of the human form, as subject matter, reinforces his interest in figurative painting.  Rounding out this new collection of important works: a self portrait and a remarkable life sized human figure (as viewed in studio in the photograph above).

Masterfully committed to his profession, Scott Owles' studies have taken him from the Ontario College of Art, through the studio of (Michael) John Angel to the Florence Academy in Italy.

The Canadian King of Collage looks to the remnant papers of past collage works to both inspire and create the new works of Le Salon des Refuss.  Using paint, paper, scissors and glue -- de Niverville paints his textured and patterned papers, while building his imagery up in layers.

Life has layers, so many possibilities. - Louis de Niverville
