Intro
Greetings!

As a new year begins, it seems fitting that January has seen many 'firsts', including the first issue of Ingram Art News! in 2009. Our new exhibition schedule is online and promises a great year of Art ahead. From the contemporary figurative interests of Jon Claytor, to mid-century abstracts by leading Québec and Ontario painters, our schedule holds something for the art lover in everyone. This year will see four Contemporary solo exhibitions matched by four exhibitions of Historical importance. Ahead in this issue, our first group exhibition of the year, a Berman special event, art books and the Abstract. We look forward to seeing you at the gallery!

WORKS ON PAPER
>> February 5 - 20

Ingram Gallery opens the exhibition season with a strong group show of works on paper by Rachel Berman, Alain Bonder, Jon Claytor & Shaun Downey.  Featuring drawings in charcoal, ink and mixed media, 'Works on Paper' also presents fantastic watercolours and oils. Echoing our North Gallery group show, our South Gallery will feature throughout February works on paper by Albert Franck, Jack Nichols and  A.J.Casson.

In the words of New York dealer Jan Krugier; "...drawings are the highest example of the touch of the artist, the highest expression of the soul."

The exhibition opens at 11am Thursday, February 5th. The gallery will be open until 8pm that same day with Shaun Downey present for the Yorkville Art Walk.

'Bradley McGogg The Very Fine Frog' by Tim Beiser
Illustrated by RACHEL BERMAN
Book Launch & Signing >> March 5
Exhibition of Berman's watercolour illustrations >> March 5 - 14

Rachel Berman will be traveling in to Toronto for the exhibition, book release and signing of Tundra Books' much anticipated new Children's title 'Bradley McGogg The Very Fine Frog' (2009). Accompanying the release, Berman's original watercolours for the book will be available.

In conjunction with Tundra Books, the launch will take place at the gallery the evening of March 5th with both Berman and the author, Tim Beiser, present for conversation and signing copies of the new book between 6 and 8pm. As a great event for the family - we will re-visit the launch with Rachel Berman at the gallery on Saturday March 7th between 2 and 4pm for a casual meet & greet and further words on the delightful watercolours.

Many friends of the gallery are already quite familiar with Berman's first children's book, 'Pigmalion', and we are very excited about adding a new book to our children's bookshelf at the gallery!

We look forward to seeing you throughout February for our 'Works on Paper' exhibition. Please be sure to save the date for Thursday, March 5th as Rachel Berman will be at the gallery and an incredible new book and a postively playful series of watercolour awaits!!
