North Dakota Long Term Recovery

north dakotaThe North Dakota Long Term Recovery Committee has made its first  award of $6,504 to flood victims in North Dakota for unmet needs. Lutheran Disaster Response Case Manager Dawn Sauvageau is preparing cases for the next conference call committee meeting that will occur before Christmas. Dawn expects 60-70 total cases for the state of North Dakota (excluding the five FEMA declared counties that have their own unmet committees and will be awarding their own money to families and individuals).

Message from Rhonda Thompson,
Ward County/Minot Lead Coordinator
for Lutheran Disaster Response

Minot debris webpictureLutheran Social Services' Lutheran Disaster Response program has assisted more than 150 families with a variety of jobs at their homes, from debris removal, cut and muck or gutting to button-up and preparing them for winter. There are currently 29 jobs pending, including button-up and rebuild. Additional homes are expected to be added to the work list from Case Management/RAFT applications.

More than 1,000 volunteers have been sent out through Lutheran Disaster Response, working 18,000+ hours in Flood Recovery in Minot and Ward County. Volunteer groups are currently scheduled through the month of December.

Lutheran Disasster Response is receiving calls almost daily from groups that want to volunteer in the spring and summer, but more volunteers are needed. If your group would like to help, call the volunteer hotline at 218-443-4970 to make arrangements.
