State Unemployment Rate Drops The New Mexico Department of Workforce Solutions reported on Friday that the State Unemployment Rate dropped to 4.0% in September, down from 4.6%. In Santa Fe, approximately 300 employees found themselves unemployed, due to forecasted seasonal layoffs, largely in the hospitality industry. Retail employers should pick up some of those employees over the holiday season, however unemployment is expected to rise across the state. In spite of the soft economy, the labor market for experienced administrative & professional personnelremains tight.
