HAVING YOUR ART WORK APPRAISED

People frequently call me to ask if I will appraise their artwork- it is the start of a long and involved conversation which starts with "I don't do appraisals." That being said I try to help people who call with this question.

The first thing I try to ascertain is if the art is an original or a reproduction. Being a reproduction does not necessarily mean that something is valueless. When possible I like to see the artwork to determine this.

 John LaPrade

McGowan Fine Art announces a show featuring the work of John LaPrade, Marisa DiIorio Peters and Wendy Prellwitz. The show will run from June 21- July 29, with an artist's reception on June 24 from 5 to 7 PM. This show is free and open to the public.

This is a show intended to reintroduce gallery goers to three experienced artists from around New England: John LaPrade, Marisa DiIorio Peters and Wendy Prellwitz. "The three have quietly operated under the radar in our stable of artists," says gallery Marisa DiIorio Petersdirector Sarah Chaffee. "I thought it was time to display their work and let everyone know what I appreciate about their technique."

John LaPrade, of the Worcester area, has been creating art for over 30 years that explores rich subconscious imagery overlaid with memory and nostalgia. He has worked in a number of mediums over the years but this show will focus on his desktop series, which is created on an old high school writing desk with its distinctive paddle shaped arm.

She will have a large array of stunningly beautiful antique flora & fauna prints-fish, flowers, birds & bugs. They are very affordably priced $40 to $150.
