Hurricane Ike & Trinity
Our staff is in the process of securing Trinity Church and School in preparation for Hurricane Ike and evacuation of Galveston Island. Trinity Episcopal School and the offices of Trinity Church are closed until further notice. Worship services, Confirmation Class, and Sunday School are canceled for Sunday, September 14. In the event the impact of the storm is less severe than expected, I will send an email notification regarding Sunday worship services by Saturday evening. Unfortunately, most means of communication of a change of plans at that point will be dependent upon electricity, which may be unavailable.
Any persons with special needs are to dial 311 for assistance in evacuation. Please pass the word right away to anyone you know who has special needs because many of them will not have access to email.
Please make a note of my mobile phone number 832-576-9019 and email address rpogue@trinitygalv.org. Call or email me at any time during this evacuation and I will respond. We are leaving the island but will not be far away. Don't forget to take your recharging gear with you if you leave the island!
I am aware of where our staff will be going when they leave the island. They will contact me as they return after the storm. It would be helpful for anyone else who returns early to let me know when you are back on the island and able to report your observations to me so that I can relay that information to others.
Most of all, take care of yourself and those you love (including your pets!). Be safe, wherever you may be. We hold our church community and our neighbors in our prayers.
