In Galveston, we are fortunate to have the best weather forecasting services in the world to warn us of severe weather. Not every community is as fortunate. Many communities are too small or too remote. The people of Gardner, Colorado don't let those things stand in their way. They have a system that works for them and may be almost as effective.
The faithful around the Anglican Communion have a unique opportunity for Bible study with their bishops during the upcoming 2008 Lambeth Conference of Bishops.
"Signs on the Way" -- focusing on St. John's Gospel and
complementing the Bible studies in which the bishops and their spouses
will take part during the Lambeth Conference -- is now available on the
web.

The Eleventh Sunday After Pentecost
Collect O God, the protector of all who trust in you, without whom nothing is strong, nothing is holy: Increase and multiply upon us your mercy; that, with you as our ruler and guide, we may so pass through things temporal, that we lose not the things eternal; through Jesus Christ our Lord, who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, one God, for ever and ever. Amen.

Loaves and Fishes Sunday August 3
On August 3, we will observe "Loaves and Fishes Sunday" at Trinity Church. The day takes its theme of abundance from the Gospel, Matthew 14:13-21, the feeding of the 5,000. Each household is invited to participate in a special offering for those in our community who are hungry. You may bring non-perishable food items, pop-top foods, or monetary contributions for the food bank at St. Vincent's Episcopal House.
We often think of feeding the hungry during the colder months of the year, but hunger continues twelve months out of the year and food pantries often run short of food during the summer months. So, share generously from the abundance of your life.
Pick the Flowers The E-Team (yes that "E" stands for Evangelism) is trying to help us identify our guests as they enter the church for Sunday services by giving them a flower tied up with a ribbon. If you see a person with a flower, please introduce yourself and welcome them to our community of faith. And if you are that person holding the flower, please gather with us after the service and help us get to know you.
Choir on Vacation The
Choir is on its Summer Vacation. Take a moment to let our choristers
know how much their ministry means to us and wish them a safe and
restful vacation. They will return in September.
Children's Christian Formation
During July and August, we will have Veggie Tales Hour at the usual Sunday School time, 10:15 a.m.. Enjoy popcorn, goldfish and juice spending time with Larry the Cucumber, Junior the Asparagus and Bob the Tomato. We will need one or two parents each Sunday to sit with the children during the movie. Diocesan policy requires us to have two-deep leadership in activities with children. You must have taken the Safeguarding God's Children training. If you will help, contact Karen Peterson.

Parish Directory soon to be available online
Parish Secretary Melissa McWilliams is busy making preparations to launch a new online parish directory. Members will be able to access it in a password protected section of www.trinitygalv.org. Each member's record will contain basic contact information, including email address that can be clicked to send a message, a map to help you find the person's residence, and a photograph. If you have a favorite photo you would like to be used on your record, please email it to Melissa McWilliamsor bring a copy to the parish office for her to scan. Or, look for one of our photographers after worship on Sunday morning. We want photos of individuals as well as group photos. Also, if you have reason to believe your contact information is out of date, let Melissa know so she can update it before launching this new resource. This new resource will further the Vestry's goal of improving our ability to recognize and communicate with one another in building community at Trinity.
The Adult Sunday School Class
The Adult Sunday School Class, meeting in Rosenberg Parlor on Sundays at 9:15 a.m., is studying the Sunday scriptures throughout the summer months. Class leadership will be shared by members.
F · O · Y · E · R · S A PLACE OF WELCOME
The French word, foyer, means a hearth or fireside, suggesting a small group, relaxed, open, and accepting to one another. We had four wonderful Foyers Groups during the past year. They all came together on June 1 for hors d'oerves and an outing in Galveston Harbor on Seagull II. New Foyers Groups will start up again at Trinity in September and you'll want to be involved.
These casual groups of six to ten randomly-selected people (couples and singles) will meet once a month or so for an informal dinner and conversation from October until June. They typically meet in people's homes; however, other arrangements can be made. Foyers groups are a fine way to join a small group of other church members that you would not otherwise have the opportunity to know and enjoy an occasional evening or afternoon of fellowship. Typically these are "potluck" suppers, but the emphasis is on the friendship, rather than on the food.
Further information will appear in the church bulletins and The Parish Messenger in August. The goal is to sign you up in August. We will have a coordination meeting in early September and begin meeting soon thereafter. Trinity people have so much to offer, and Foyers Groups provide a great opportunity to find out just how much as we build relationships. Jon and Suzette Schultz have graciously agreed to serve as coordinators for Foyers again in the coming year.
Supper Clubs Super Club #2:will meet on Sunday, July 27th at 5pm at Las Brisas Mexican Restaurant on Hwy 146 N. Reservations can be made by calling Brenda Gutierrez 409 908-9707.
Keep us in the Loop
If your contact information has changed within the past six months, or if it changes in the future, be sure to email or call in your new information.
