Help Wanted!

We have openings in the following positions:

Help with the Welcome Table in the Narthex.
The E-Team needs friendly folks to assist at the welcome table in the Narthex where members and visitors get name badges and information about Trinity.

Tour Guides

are needed for Sundays and for tour groups by appointment during the week.  We want to be able to provide tours every Sunday and to respond positively to the increasing number of requests from groups.  The more people out there helping us spread Trinity's story, the better!

Photographers are needed to take photos of new members and at events around the parish.  All you need is a digital camera and the memory to bring it with you.

Worship Leaders are needed to sustain our ministry of Evening Prayer every weekday at 5:30 p.m. in the church.

Wedding Guild Members are needed to assist with Trinity Weddings from time to time.

If you are able to assist in any of these ways, please let us know by sending a message to info@trinitygalv.org.

Collect of the Day

Almighty and everlasting God, you have given to us your servants grace, by the confession of a true faith, to acknowledge the glory of the eternal Trinity, and in the power of your divine Majesty to worship the Unity: Keep us steadfast in this faith and worship, and bring us at last to see you in your one and eternal glory, O Father; who with the Son and the Holy Spirit live and reign, one God, for ever and ever. Amen.

Bishop Election 2008

On Saturday, May 24, lay and clergy delegates from the Diocese of Texas will gather at Christ Church Cathedral to elect a Bishop Coadjutor, one who will succeed Bishop Wimberly upon his retirement as Bishop of Texas.  Your delegates are meeting and attending "walkabouts" in the process of discernment that leads to the election.  As a diocese, we are all invited to join the following prayer.

Gracious God, you call the church to witness to your Kingdom revealed through Jesus Christ: Send your Holy Spirit to guide into unity the hearts and minds of the people who will be electing the next Bishop of the Episcopal Diocese of Texas, that our diocese might be led by a person of your own choosing, who will help us ever more become the people and Church you have created us to be-a people who witness to the Kingdom of God boldly, minister unselfishly, and worship joyfully. All this we pray in the name of our Master Teacher, Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. Amen.

For additional information on the election and the nominees, see Bishop's Election 2008 .

Children's Christian Formation

Godly Play had great attendance during May!  On Mother's Day, 13 of our Godly Play children distributed roses to all the mothers in church.  Also, congratulations to our Godly Play children, Rachel and Peter Brooks, who were baptized on Pentecost (Mother's Day).

This Sunday, May 18
We hope to see all the children in Godly Play this Sunday!  It is Pentecost and the lesson is the The Synagogue and the Upper Room (The Holy Word and the Holy Table).

Summer Plans for the Children

(3 YRS - 5TH GRADE at 10:15 a.m.)
There will be no Godly Play after June 8 until the start of the school year. Instead, the Peterson family has offered to sponsor Veggie Tales Hour at the usual Godly Play time. Enjoy popcorn, goldfish and juice spending time with Larry the Cucumber, Junior the Asparagus and Bob the Tomato. Tentative dates are July 6 through August 24.  Godly Play will resume on Rally Day, September 7.

We need help with Children's Ministry!  There must be 2 adults who have been trained in Safeguarding God's Children in the classroom during the movie.  Many of you are trained (not just parents). Please consider helping out one Sunday this Summer as service to Children's ministry.  Contact Karen Peterson at kpeterson@ci.friendswood.tx.us or 409-949-9980 if you are willing to help.

Special thanks to all our incredible Godly Play teachers this year:  Greg Whittaker, Howard Baade, Gina Thomas, Karen Peterson, Suzette Schultz, Pamela Petty, Janet Rice, Joy Unbehagen, Joan McLeod, Katrina Griffith, Carol Lee.

THINGS TO REMEMBER FROM THE GORDON RANCH RETREAT

What a great youth retreat it was with 23 youth and 7 adults.  Special thanks to Jennie and Tom LaRue (the greatest chefs), Carol and Mike Malloy (great at every sport), Gina Thomas (who drove from Seguin to bring up a late group), Pamela Petty , Carol Lee.   Youth Leaders:   Maggie Dean, Charlotte Dearman, Victoria Petty, Stuart Petty; Youth: Spencer Bell, Kate Dannenmaier, Beth Ebert, Chey French, Alex Harrington, Kirsten Griffith, Jennifer Furlong, Jared Jackson, Niki Kirby, Joshua Leggett, Gabi LaRue, Chris Malloy, John McQuitty, Joergen Sjostrom, Natalia Tesh, Phillip Thomas, Ryan VanDewalli, Ashley Worthington, Willie Webb

Here are some things we will remember from the retreat:

Singing How Great Is Our God and watching the sun pop out from the rain sprinkles; talking with the older youth leaders about Blowouts in Life;  eating s'mores around the bonfire; playing basketball and more basketball; swimming for the 1st time this year; staying up too late playing Zip-Zap-Zop (ask the girls); seeing God's creation all around us; being in one of the groups - The No Names, The Originals, The Cavaliers; making barbed wire crosses; Charlotte playing "Sanctuary" on the guitar; celebrating Holy Eucharist outside; eating pizza AND lasagna for dinner; ducks quacking all night, making bread for the Holy Eucharist; rolling down the hill contests; feeling God's presence in all that we did.

A Note from The Rev. Evelyn Hornaday

Mother Evelyn conducted the  Sunday morning worship service at Gordon Ranch.  Here is a note from her.

"I had a grand time with you and your youth from Trinity.  Sometimes Priests have difficulty "going to church." Not me Sunday!  It was a holy time for me!"

MARK YOUR CALENDARS TO BE IN CHURCH ON JUNE 8 WHEN THE BISHOP COMES.  NO YOUTH EVENTS DURING SUMMER. DON'T FORGET, CHURCH STILL MEETS EVERY SUNDAY AT 8:00 A.M. AND 10:30 A.M.  SEE YOU THERE!

Wear your Trinity lapel pin!

By wearing your Trinity lapel pin, you invite others to ask about its significance, thereby providing a natural opportunity to speak about your church and its meaning for your life.  If you do not own a lapel pin, you may purchase one at a cost of $5 in the parish office.  The pin displays the arms of Trinity Church, the same as our banner.

Salvation Army Meals Outreach Welcomes Donations

The Trinity mission outreach to the homeless that cooks and serves dinner at the Salvation Army three Thursdays each month is in need of donations to purchase food.  Three teams of Salvation Army Logoparishioners cook and serve approximately 150 simple meals at an average cost of $1/person.  If you would like to support this important ministry through a donation, please drop a check in the collection plate or bring/mail it to the church office.  BE SURE to note on the memo line that the donation is for the Salvation Army meals!
