Celebration of a Job Well Done

A lot of pats on the back are due for the way our Galveston Episcopal Community welcomed the Diocese of Texas for 159th Council at Moody Gardens!  We are having a celebration honoring everyone who did anything from offering a prayer to staffing the registration desk on Thursday, March 6 at 6:00 p.m. at Garten Verein on Avenue O at 27th Street in Galveston.  There will be plenty of great barbeque from Luke's.  This will be an important gathering of Island Episcopalians so if you had anything to do with Diocesan Council, please plan to attend!

I'll see you in church!

Invitation to help at Funerals

When there is a funeral at Trinity, traditionally the Martha Group of the Episcopal Church Women has provided, at the family's choice, a meal or a cookies-and-punch reception in Eaton Hall.  Now the ECW is exploring expanding this group's ministry to better serve the Parish by feeding us in more ways.  Contact: Anne Browne, ECW Vice President at, 409-457-9634 or email her at momqat@hotmail.com .

Sunday morning child care discontinued

After considerable discussion, the rector and vestry have reached the decision to discontinue the services Sunday morning nursery attendants.  These ladies have been here faithfully for years.  However, their services are seldom used any longer and the budget funds are needed elsewhere.  At some point in the future, if the need again arises for nursery attendants every Sunday morning or on special occasions, we will revisit this decision.  We are grateful to our nursery workers for their long and faithful service.

Help Wanted!
We have openings in the following positions:

Tour Guides are needed for Sundays and for tour groups by appointment during the week.  We want to be able to provide tours every Sunday and to respond positively to the increasing number of requests from groups.  The more people out there helping us spread Trinity's story, the better!

Photographers are needed to take photos of new members and at events around the parish.  All you need is a digital camera and the memory to bring it with you.

Name Badge Helpers are needed during the month of March to staff a table to renew the use of name badges among our members.

Worship Leaders are needed to sustain our ministry of Evening Prayer every weekday at 5:30 p.m. in the church.

If you are able to assist in any of these ways, please let us know by sending a message to info@trinitygalv.org.

Name Badges

During the next month, we will be making an effort to provide a name badge for every member of the parish.  If we have a name badge for you already, it will be set out on a table for you to pick up and keep.  If you do not have one, there will be request forms on the table for you to fill out and turn in so it will be ready for you to pick up the following Sunday.  When the process is complete, each member will bring your name badge with you whenever you are coming to worship or a function at Trinity.  Since many of us will forget to bring our name badge from time to time, we will always have a supply of peel and stick name badges and marker pens on hand at a table near the entrance to the church or Eaton Hall.  The Outreach Council hopes the use of name badges will increase our fellowship and help build relationships.

Advance the Mission & Balance the Budget - 2008 Easter Offering
On March 2, the Vestry will make a special presentation at both morning services regarding the need to advance the mission of the parish and balance the operating budget.  The Easter Offering will be one aspect of their appeal.  Watch for additional details and special offering envelopes soon.
