The Nativity Window
to be restored
in memory of
Hetta Jockush Towler
Trinity Church Capital Campaign Chairman Dr. Harry Kelso announces that Mr. and Mrs. Harris L. Kempner, Jr. (Peaches and Shrub) have committed to fund the restoration of the Nativity Window in memory of Peaches Kempner's mother, Hetta Jockush Towler. The Kempner's gift will make possible the complete historic restoration of the stained glass, repairs to the wooden frame, and the protective covering.
"All our consultants agreed that this is the most vulnerable window in Trinity's entire collection," said Dr. Kelso. "We are grateful that Peaches and Shrub recognized the importance of this project and saw it as a fitting memorial to Mrs. Towler, who was such a faithful and wonderful member of Trinity Church her entire life."
This leadership gift represents a significant step forward in Trinity's efforts to begin the process of restoring the entire collection of windows. The Nativity Window and the Altar Window, a memorial to George and Magnolia Sealy, will be restored at the same time by Willet-Hauser Architectural Glass. Jim Hauser, Vice President of Willet-Hauser, described the preservation process in a presentation attended by Mrs. Kempner on Wednesday evening, January 23.
