WATER
Workshop Monday,April 18, 2012 @ 6:30 PM Did you know that certain chemicals on your foods react to the chlorine in your tap water? Many people think that having a shower filter is all they need from protecting them self from the dangers of chlorine. Most people absorb more chlorine from daily washing their hands and cooking in the kitchen than the time they spend in the shower.
Learn how this amazing water filter can protect you from chlorine and other contaminants and filter your whole house plus your garden! We will be doing product demonstrations with questions and answers. Please call the store to register.

Almond Butter Freezer Fudge So Good! Servings: Fills an 8"x8" pan Preparation Time: 10 minutes + 1 hour chill
2 cups raw creamy almond butter (unsalted) 1/2 cup coconut oil, softened 3 tablespoons raw honey 1 teaspoon fine sea salt Simply mix all the ingredients together in a medium bowl, until smooth and creamy. (Tip: It helps if all the ingredients are at room temperature, to keep the coconut oil soft!) Transfer the mixture to a square baking dish, or container, lined with parchment or wax paper, then smooth with a spatula, and freeze until solid (about an hour). Remove the fudge by lifting the paper out of the pan, then cut into squares and serve immediately. Due to the nature of coconut oil, this fudge will melt if left at room temperature for long. Store in the freezer for best results! recipe provided by www.freecoconutrecipes.com Tonya's adaptation: Melt 1/4 cup cacao butter mix in and double the honey and add 1/4 cup cacao powder.

What's at the Markets Fresh Produce Coming In We have had an amazing winter and getting in lots of good stuff at the market right when I am heading to Texas. Abigail and I have been having fun shopping at the Kingsland and Calgary Farmer's market. Here are just a few of our favorite finds:
Kingsland:
Broxburn: They have their amazing tomatoes( the best hot house ones ever!!) Plus, green beans and banana peppers and jalapenos. Great time to ferment a few things. Sylvan Star Cheese: I got lucky on a Sunday afternoon and met up with the owner and learned a lot about their cheeses. Did you know that the reason why their cheese is lactose free is because even though it says heat treated, it still maintains their live enzymes and probiotics. They heat at the very minimal all the while maintaining enzyme integrity. So I opted out of my usual raw organic gouda that day and tried their brie. Fabulous! Abigail loves it on her raw dehydrated veggie crackers, we do too. They also have the best cultured butter and eggs too. You will not find any eggs higher quality than theirs, I've looked everywhere. Be sure to tell Roxana I sent you.
Cucumber Man- Awesome grape tomatoes, peppers and Basil. They have a location at CFM too.
Angelina Olives- They have the best green olives and some really good tapenades. Some are not raw, but olives are super healthy and I recommended you pick up a few varieties.
Dor-Bel Foods- If you are in a hurry, you can find high quality flash frozen wild caught fish, it is very good. I picked up some Artic Char at my last visit. Be sure to say hi to Brian.
Hoven Farms- Is carrying lamb and it is the highest quality best lamb ever. I made the best pesto rack of lamb for Passover. I could not believe how delicious it was. It was perfect!
Calgary Farmer's Market
Blush Lane Organics - Have you tried the Edible Rebellion bars? They are so yummy!! Blush Lane has the best apples in Calgary. They are coming out of season, so a few more raw apple pies should be had before the berries come in. They also carry some of the best organic produce selection in Calgary.High Country Bison- they have great bison salami and jerky. Very tasty and lean.

I can't wait to see you all when I come back. I'll be so busy in Texas working on our event and finalizing lots of things. I finally got my permanent residence status, so it is official, I can get a job and pay taxes now and finally get rid of my Texas plates. LOL. Have a great Spring and summer and be sure to support our local farmers while I am gone.
Sincerely,
