What are Living and Raw Foods?

Raw and Living Foods are foods that contain enzymes. In general, the act of heating food over 116 degrees F destroys enzymes in food. (Enzymes start to degrade in as little as 106 degrees F). All cooked food is devoid of enzymes, furthermore cooking food changes the molecular structure of the food and renders it toxic. Living and raw foods also have enormously higher nutrient values than the foods that have been cooked.

Want to know more?

Come join us and learn how live foods can make you feel better, heal you from diseases, give you more energy and a more positive outlook in life.

Potlucks are held at

Even though fresh cucumbers are mostly composed of water, they still pack a lot of nutrition.
The flesh of cucumbers is a very good source of vitamins A, C, and folic acid. The hard skin is rich in fiber and a variety of minerals including magnesium, silica, molybdenum, and potassium. Cucumber is an excellent source of silica, which is a trace mineral that contributes to the strength of our connective tissue.

Connective tissue is what holds our body together.  Cucumbers are effective when used for various skin problems, including swelling under the eyes and sunburn.  They also contain ascorbic and caffeic
acids.  These acids prevent water retention.  That may explain why when cucumbers
are applied topically they are often helpful for swollen eyes, burns, and dermatitis.

The Cucumber Man

Cucumber Man

I absolutley love the Kingsland Market and if you have not visited the market yet, now is the time! I buy all my cucumbers, red, yellow, and orange peppers, basil, pea shoots and green beans at the Cucumber Man. I also love their tomatoes and butter lettuce. They also carry eggplant, hot peppers and a basil pesto sauce.

The people are very friendly and they hand out cucumbers to the kiddos for a treat. The more local produce we buy the greater the demand we create, we support Canadians and it is so nutritious to eat local grown produce.

Support your local farmer today, buy Alberta produce!

Well I am happy to say that Abigail is using the potty all by herself. She is growing up so fast and I feel like a proud mom that I taught my little girl a valuable tool. She also taught me a lot about patiences. Iv'e learned that if I take things slow, be calm and practice patience all goods things happen, even potty training! Thanks to all of you for all the wonderful advice!

I can't wait to see all of you at the May events. Abigail, Cody and I will be at the Raw Food Potluck on May 6th, so be sure to bring the kids.
