CleanseSpring is finally here and what a great time to cleanse right before summer. We are starting to get some amazing produce from BC and some local hothouse grown foods too. I encourage you to research on juice feasting, herbal cleanses, liver cleanses, the raw food diet, which is very cleansing and consider making some dietary changes.
We all need a season of cleansing, so top in and ask what products work well, rent a book, consider a live blood analysis or take a raw food class and be sure to stop in at the Farmer's Market and buy some fresh local organic produce.
Abigail Drink MeI am so excited to announce we are now carrying an all raw green smoothie called Drink Me. Here is Abigail guzzling down the 3X kale smoothie. They are so delicious even babies love them! Abigail would have drank the whole bottle. They are all raw, organic and made with kale, orange juice, banana and fresh spring water. Very simple but yet delicious and convenient. Since they are raw they come frozen so you will find these in our stand up freezer near the kitchen. Stop in and pick one up today! Be sure to click the image and read Christina's inspirational story and how she started the Drink Me company.

KALE: Optimize Your Cells' Detoxification / Cleansing Ability
KaleFor about 20 years, we've known that many phytonutrients work as antioxidants to disarm free radicals before they can damage DNA, cell membranes and fat-containing molecules such as cholesterol. Now, new research is revealing that phytonutrients in crucifers, such as kale, work at a much deeper level. These compounds actually signal our genes to increase production of enzymes involved in detoxification, the cleansing process through which our bodies eliminate harmful compounds.
The phytonutrients in cruciferous vegetables initiate an intricate dance inside our cells in which gene response elements direct and balance the steps among dozens of detoxification enzyme partners, each performing its own protective role in perfect balance with the other dancers. The natural synergy that results optimizes our cells' ability to disarm and clear free radicals and toxins, including potential carcinogens, which may be why cruciferous vegetables appear to significantly lower our risk of cancer.
Recent studies show that those eating the most cruciferous vegetables have a much lower risk of prostate, colorectal and lung cancer-even when compared to those who regularly eat other vegetables.  Click the image for the full article.

Raw Macaroni N' Cheese
Well I have to Raw Mac N Cheesesay, I am pretty darn proud of myself on this recipe. If you missed my Pasta Night you missed a really yummy mac n cheese recipe that I whipped up. I promise, your kids will love it!
Mac N' Cheese
½ cup cashews
¼ cup red bell pepper
1-2 sun-dried tomatoes, soaked
1 tablespoon nutritional yeast
1 tablespoon miso
1 tsp salt (optional)
1  cup water
Kelp Noodles or sliced zucchini
Blend all the ingredients in a Vitamix until warm. Add the water slowly, you may need more or less. You want the mixture creamy and silky. Mix cheese sauce with kelp noodles. You can also soak the kelp noodles in hot water and drain and then mix with cheese sauce. Toss in green peas for fun!

We have many people still asking us where we get our spring water. Click the image for directions. One of our customers took this photo. Just  head West on Highway 1 from Banff town, take the Johnstons Canyon turnoff 1A travel down this road a couple kilometers until the road becomes divided just before the divide you will see the spring on your right hand side. Place a plastic bottle with a handle on the ledge to collect and then pour into your glass bottles to store.
We have lots going on for April and we hope you join us and appreciate the efforts we provide in the raw food movement and your health.
