The Laws of Stewardship are rooted in the immovable ground of God's promises. They are sure and certain, truths that we can count on. They are the absolutely positive teaching of Jesus, such as the Law of Guaranteed Return that He stated like this: "Give, and it will be given to you," He said, "a good measure, pressed down, shaken together and running over, will be poured into your lap. For with the measure you use, it will be measured to you." [Luke 6:38]. The purpose behind this promise is that we be motivated to give because it's a sensible investment. Spiritually speaking, there's virtually no risk but all reward. Any gift given for God's glory is backed by the infinite resources of the Bank of Heaven. There is no doubt about it, no cause for concern, no conditions under which the return is held back or held up. It will come. |

"The Kingdom of Heaven"
Matthew 11:11-12 (KJV) "(11) Verily I say unto you, Among them that are born of women there hath not risen a greater than John the Baptist: notwithstanding he that is least in the kingdom of heaven is greater than he. (12) And from the days of John the Baptist until now the kingdom of heaven suffereth violence, and the violent take it by force.."
This weeks devotional
focuses on an often unrecognized position that we as believers in Christ fail to identify ourselves with on a consistence basis.
Therefore, because of this, the outcome is one that is often filled with defeat and loss of divine benefits that we have in Christ. Without a doubt, John the Baptist was a special prophet of God, who was in fact, sent here to proclaim the coming of the Messiah to all the inhabitants of the earth.
However, as special and great as John the Baptist may have been to this world and to the message that God ordained him to deliver, he ranked less in stature than the least within the kingdom after the ascension of Christ. What is this saying then? What is this Scripture telling us? I believe that this reference to John the Baptist was not to diminish him personally, or what he was called to do as a prophet; but rather, to honor him and clarify once and for all what we the saints of God have now received because of the sacrifice of Christ; the very One that John the Baptist proclaimed would come and empower us with His glory. This is a divine endowment that would be poured out on all the believers coming after John the Baptist's ministry was over and Christ's finished work on Calvary accomplished: making these believers greater because of the indwelling of the Holy Spirit and His power in them. After the Holy Ghost was given, He would then fill the believers life with power and cause them to be strong and forceful to lay claim to every promise for themselves. The Weust translation says it like this, "The kingdom of God is being taken by storm." Let's look over in the Gospel of Luke and deepen this study on the kingdom of heaven. It will help us to see why the least believer in heaven is considered greater than John the Baptist.
Luke 17:20-21 (KJV) 20 And when he was demanded of the Pharisees, when the kingdom of God should come, he answered them and said, The kingdom of God cometh not with observation: 21 Neither shall they say, Lo here! or, lo there! for, behold, the kingdom of God is within you.
First, we need to understand that the kingdom of God is not
measured or revealed through some outward manifestation. In other words, its not proven or validated through some observation that may be seen outwardly before it can be believed on; and I realize there have been many believers over time who have sought out spiritual things by what they could see outwardly. This measure of seeing in order to believe in the supernatural can be very dangerous due to the lying wonders that our adversary can produce and does frequently to lead people astray. We are instructed in the Scriptures to walk by faith and not by sight. Therefore, the kingdom of God does not come through observation, but rather, it is a citizenship of heaven that you positionally hold right now which resides on the inside of you declaring your authority as a believer in Jesus Christ. Let's look at another passage from the Bible that will serve to reinforce this subject of the kingdom of heaven in us.
John 3:1-5 (KJV) 1 There was a man of the Pharisees, named Nicodemus, a ruler of the Jews: 2 The same came to Jesus by night, and said unto him, Rabbi, we know that thou art a teacher come from God: for no man can do these miracles that thou doest, except God be with him. 3 Jesus answered and said unto him, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God. 4 Nicodemus saith unto him, How can a man be born when he is old? can he enter the second time into his mother's womb, and be born? 5 Jesus answered, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born of water and of the Spirit, he cannot enter into the kingdom of God.
It should be obvious to those who are believers in Jesus Christ that you cannot see or understand the kingdom of God without being born again. In other words, you have to be born into it to understand or be a part of it. Therefore, if you are born from above, then you are from above and all of its benefits become yours. "Nico" however, could only identify with the physical birth of man because he was lacking the inward perspective due to religion and not having the Spirit within. Jesus was explaining to him further that except a man be born of water (of the Word: Eph. 5:26) and of the Spirit, he cannot enter into the kingdom of God. It is the agreement of the Word and the Holy Spirit that enables us to enter into the kingdom of God; neither of them work apart from the other. The kingdom of God is therefore, something you grow into as you discover you're identity more in Christ through the Word. The Word of God is the source that you must draw from to see it, and the Holy Spirit is the only one who can truly interpret what you have drawn from it. The Anointing unequivocally, is the "Teacher" inside of us revealing our true nature.
As I was meditating on this subject about the kingdom of heaven, the Lord began to show me something very important and worthy of thought. What He revealed to me was that many if not most believers, pursue their answers beyond or outside of their inner man. In other words, they look to something outside of themselves to resolve or remedy their circumstances. They look to something in the world to satisfy their sense of lack. If someone is sick they see sickness from within rather than seeing health. They view sickness as evolving from within and health somewhere outside of them that needs to be located. For these it appears as though health is outside of them somewhere, and requires that they use all of their energy and focus to locate it; whether through a doctor or some other means that they interpret to be a source for their healing outside of their spirit. They just can't see divine health as already present in the inner man through the work that Christ accomplished. Another example would be: someone looks to some form of riches in this world to answer their present
impoverished condition through possibly the [lottery, loans, theft, etc]. Yet, Scripture teaches us that Jesus became poor that we may become rich. Again the Word tells us that we are to be the lender and not the borrower; that whatever we put our hands to, it shall prosper. Again the Scriptures teach us that He gave us the power to get wealth that He may establish His covenant. Now, I don't know how anyone could ever look into the Word of God and not see the finished work that Christ did; and according to these promises from God's Word, we are not poor at all.
But the devil our adversary loves to get us thinking about the subject of lack based on what we can't see outwardly this very moment, [remember the kingdom of God comes not through observation but is in fact already in us]; therefore, if the devil can get us to believe we don't have something right now, then we will scratch and claw like the unbeliever for everything we can, in order to figure out some way to get what we think we don't have. If you believe you do not have something that God has promised in His Word, than you will have reinforced that sense of lack or doubt in you're life and it will keep you from receiving [James 1:6-8]. We must not believe just because of some high expectation that we are trying to muster up or what someone told us, but because of the written promises which are guaranteed by a God who cannot tell a lie. He is faithful to His promises. Therefore, if God says I have something, whether that be Salvation, righteousness, riches, health, soundness of mind, peace, joy, etc. Then I have it without question. The faith in you, must speak to it as though it is, and that it is so!
Mark 9:1 (KJV) 1 And he said unto them, Verily I say unto you, That there be some of them that stand here, which shall not taste of death, till they have seen the kingdom of God come with power.
This passage of Scripture is self-explanatory, but for the sake of making sure, I will summarize it for those who may not understand it. Jesus was making a statement of truth that while He was on the earth there would be those who would not taste of death before they shall have seen the kingdom of God come with power. This solidifies the fact that He was referring to the baptism of the Holy Spirit coming with power, once He had sat down at the right hand of the Father. So, these who were His disciples
who saw His death, and also witnessed His resurrection, would later find themselves waiting in the upper room for the promise of the Holy Ghost with power [the Day of Pentecost]. Sadly today, many believers are unfortunately lacking revelation in the Word of God; which is costing them their rightful position in Christ as they continue to live without this gift of the Father. It doesn't take long to look around, and you will discover just how many believers are still waiting for that power to show up today. Powerless Christians, looking for something to show up that will help them live victorious. These just keep accepting sickness, poverty and every other tragic event into their life. We can't or should not be waiting around for power when it's already here right now! This Scripture that we just read secures this case in point, because none of us know anyone who is over 2000 years old and still alive. Therefore, this passage has been fulfilled, meaning that the Holy Spirit and power has been poured out already. Do you got it?
Mark 9:2-3 (KJV) 2 And after six days Jesus taketh with him Peter, and James, and John, and leadeth them up into an high mountain apart by themselves: and he was transfigured before them. 3 And his raiment became shining, exceeding white as snow; so as no fuller on earth can white them.
That word transfigured is the same as where we get our word metamorphosis. Jesus illuminated from within, not from outside Himself. Therefore, we who are born again will change from the inside out giving off an array of brilliance through that anointing that is in us. The kingdom of heaven resides on the inside of us and the more that that it is realized, the more it will shine from within: outwardly, giving evidence to that kingdom in us. The keys of heaven have been disbursed: whatever is allowed in heaven can be allowed in this world; and whatever is bound in heaven can be bound here on earth by those who have these keys in possession. You must identify with what you already have in Christ by faith, and not assume from a position of doubt that you are trying to find a way to get it. You already have all things in Christ.
Mark 9:4-5 (KJV) 4 And there appeared unto them Elias with Moses: and they were talking with Jesus. 5 And Peter answered and said to Jesus, Master, it is good for us to be here: and let us make three tabernacles; one for thee, and one for Moses, and one for Elias.
Keep in mind from this passage of Scripture that Peter was steeped in an old religion of the past that kept creeping up and obscuring the right perspective that he should have had in the new order that he had received of the Lord Jesus Christ. The word "tabernacles" that is in this passage in verse five, comes from a description referred to as "booths." Peter's old religion was use to always putting sacred things into a booth, tent or box. This is exactly how the priests kept the people from experiencing anything of God, because they kept God in a box much like the ministers do today in order to have control over people. It was just to holy for the average people to handle and only the privileged ones could partake of it. But the good news is that when Jesus Christ died on the cross, the veil in the tabernacle was torn in two. God got out of the box that religion had placed Him in, and He entered into the hearts of men that since, have shaken this world with His message of deliverance demonstrated in the power of the Holy Spirit. The early church knew they had the kingdom inside with all of its power; today's church however, has failed to be informed effectively through its leaders that they too have the same power to be and do those things that the citizens of the kingdom of heaven have been given. There is power in the believer who understands what they have in them. Men who have only words even though they use the Word of God: if they cannot produce it in power what those words say; then these men need an immediate revelation and an impartation of the Holy Ghost with power in order to stop hindering the work of God.
1 Corinthians 4:18-20 (KJV) 18 Now some are puffed up, as though I would not come to you. 19 But I will come to you shortly, if the Lord will, and will know, not the speech of them which are puffed up, but the power. 20 For the kingdom of God is not in word, but in power.
And that kingdom is in you my dear brothers and sisters. Amen! * This devotional is excerpts from a message by Pastor Tommy Morgan on 10/18/2009.
