I posed a few statements to my congregation this past Sunday in hopes to stir them up in the Holy Spirit. The results is that there were a great many who responded with gladness of heart. And it is always a thrill to watch God touch lives through the workings of the Holy Spirit. And oh! How He did just that.
Our devotional today is reflective of what I taught that morning in hopes that it will release a revelation of just how each one of us is unique and created for purpose. In order to do that we will need to look to God's Word for the right image of what that actually looks like. You and I entered this world as sinners due to the fallen nature of man. We have since grown up and have been indoctrinated with worldly views and systems that war with our perceptions of who we really are. Because of these views we have concluded to many ideas about who we are and most are generally way off the mark. Read with me this first passage of Scripture and begin to see who you really are.
John 14:16-17 (AMP)
16 And I will ask the Father, and He will give you another Comforter (Counselor, Helper, Intercessor, Advocate, Strengthener, and Standby), that He may remain with you forever-
17 The Spirit of Truth, Whom the world cannot receive (welcome, take to its heart), because it does not see Him or know and recognize Him. But you know and recognize Him, for He lives with you [constantly] and will be in you.
I keep reminding believers that have received the baptism of the Holy Spirit that they are the temple of God. As we just read, Jesus promised that when He left this world He would ask the Father to send us a helper and He would be in us forever! That person is the Holy Spirit and He dwells in us. Christ in us the hope and glory! There is a revelation that each child of God should pursue and that is to know who they are in Christ. Otherwise, the world and its ideologies will have us believing and developing the wrong perspective of ourselves and it will confuse our ability to know our true nature in God. The many conflicts within our minds are due to the uncertainty of what manner of person we really are.
The Bible is a mirror to help you and I get the right image of what we look like when we look into it's reflective image of Christ. The Gospel books are an exact image of God's Son that is transferrable to you and me if we are willing to change to its image. It is a pattern of wonderful principles to live our life from that promises to lead us to becoming just like the very image of His Son. I love the passage that reveals that the devil has nothing in Jesus Christ. In other words, he has no advantage to enter are affect Him [Jesus]. When I witness so many believers in Jesus Christ just being worn out by the devils assaults and ready to give up. It's here that I recall that the devil should have nothing in us to grab at if we are truly being conformed to the image of Christ.
John 14:30 (AMP)
30 I will not talk with you much more, for the prince (evil genius, ruler) of the world is coming. And he has no claim on Me. [He has nothing in common with Me; there is nothing in Me that belongs to him, and he has no power over Me.]
Wow this is worth pondering on! If it is Jesus Christ that is in you and is fully developing by adhering to His Word, then how is it that devil has such a hold on you? Could it be that you have failed to recognize that the devil has nothing in you or that belongs to him?
The Bible teaches us that greater is He [Jesus] that is in you, then he [Satan] that is in the world. This world or its agents doesn't hold an advantage over you. It only has what you are willing to surrender. We generally surrender what we don't think we really have. Let me give you another Scripture to meditate on.
1 Corinthians 15:45-49 (AMP)
45 Thus it is written, The first man Adam became a living being (an individual personality); the last Adam (Christ) became a life-giving Spirit [restoring the dead to life].
46 But it is not the spiritual life which came first, but the physical and then the spiritual.
47 The first man [was] from out of earth, made of dust (earthly-minded); the second Man [is] the Lord from out of heaven.
48 Now those who are made of the dust are like him who was first made of the dust (earthly-minded); and as is [the Man] from heaven, so also [are those] who are of heaven (heavenly-minded).
49 And just as we have borne the image [of the man] of dust, so shall we and so let us also bear the image [of the Man] of heaven.
Do you see this believers in Christ Jesus? When we were born unto this world we inherited the sinful nature of the first Adam. In other words, Adam brought sickness, poverty, hatred, wars, division, drunkenness, immorality, and all the other evils that we know exist in this world. Before we ever knew Jesus Christ as our Savior and Lord, we acted on the very nature of these kinds of things which we were born into. Captives to a system and a force of evil that we could not help but participate in. Because it was who we were due to the nature that we knew only to pursue and act on. It was natural! And it continues to destroy the many who never find the real truth. Here is that truth that so many fail to discover. It is not as though it were hidden, but rather they loved darkness much more than the light. Therefore, their choice was to refuse salvation through Jesus at the expense of doing it their way!
But you and I have received eternal life if we have accepted the blessed Son of God as our Savior. The Scriptures tell us that He became the last Adam (vs. 45). For those who have Christ in them. They are no longer under the curses and evils of this world. These diabolical forces have no advantage point over Christ who dwells in us. Therefore, they have no advantage over us either. As we read earlier the first Adam loosed many terrible things that the people of this world contend with on a daily basis, and often become crushed under their weights. But I have good news for those who have Christ in them. The last Adam [Jesus] defeated the devil and his tactics of destruction. Disease abides with those who are born of the first Adam; however, Jesus as the last Adam, has healed us by His stripes! Where the first Adam released selfishness and greed in the hearts of men which essentially has created poverty for all of the son's and daughters of the world; Jesus the last Adam has son's and daughter's who shall be the head and not the tail, they shall be the lenders and not the borrowers!
I could keep this comparison of the two Adam's mentioned here in Scripture going on until I was no more, and it would still not conclude what Jesus Christ abundantly did for us. He has exhausted all the characteristics of evil and their wicked intents with His wonderful provisions for those born unto Him. We are untouchables if Christ is the One who is being formed in us. What's in your heart? If Christ be for you, who can come against you? There is therefore, no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus. Shut down those voices that would tell you otherwise. Whose report will you believe? If He is the King of kings within you, there is nothing that any devil from hell could do to harm you. The devil only seeks to steal, kill and destroy those individuals who fail to acknowledge who they really are in Christ Jesus. Exercise your authority and rely on Christ in you to execute it! Don't change your mind, stay adamant and unmovable in your position of victory. Blessings are upon those who believe it! Those who change their minds from believing in the truth because the devil severely challenges them will not inherit the promises. Greater is He that is in you, then he that is in the world.
