"Possessing Our Double Portion in All Circumstances"
There is a place of contentment even when things and circumstances way heavy against us. However, your mind and heart must learn to rest on the fact that Jesus is the one who said He would supply all our needs. Just as important you must believe that He will do it on your behalf and supply whatever is necessary for your well being. Today's devotional is intended to bring our focus back onto the undeniable and faithful truth that God has declared His blessing over us despite the dismal economy being broadcasted throughout the world by the doomsayers. Think about this for just a moment and let it resonate within you until it is crystal clear. The world predicts gloom or good times based on what is currently happening. In other words, the ideology of this world is always pumping up the latest rumors or stats of how things have been thus far which they use to forecast the coming future. And we all know that things are always changing in our world due to the many interventions of evil people. So, while these things are being promoted based in the fears of what could happen according to man's interpretation of the times; God is saying He knows the ending from the beginning. Remember it is the Lord our God that said I know my thoughts towards you and they are for good and not evil. Man looks to the past and tries to predict what we can expect based on that history. Man does not want to look to God for answers; he is bent on finding his own way. But even still, man is uncertain of what really may unfold when the circumstances intensify down the stretch. It's much like the optimism that our president-elect and the others projected early in their campaigns; but now that the race is over and president-elect Obama is to be the one in charge, reality of the economic mess that we are in as a nation has hit home. His verbiage is less optimistic in describing the months and years ahead which is opposite of what he began spouting in his earlier campaign of what he was going to do. The circumstances of our times have delivered a major blow to his slogan "change," and has since caused it to take a nose dive from where he originally wanted to go; and now the focus must be redirected to the status of how to "maintain" in order to keep things afloat. Something all politicians are prone to do. In other words, create more debt to pay off all those who wrecked this thing in the first place. Nothing has changed at all in Washington and it will continue to remain this way no matter who is president because our leaders do not trust God's principles; only their own ambitions. Saying what you are going to do before you essentially have the real job of doing it is much easier to declare to the people with boldness. But when you are finally there in that office of responsibility, optimism must now face reality and it can become much harder to predict the outcome. Therefore, man just hopes for the best in most situations at this point. In addition to this observation that we are making here today, we must ask this question. What happens when people are not the exceptional ones with the massive finances that can help them stay optimistic and hopeful through difficult times of financial collapse? I believe they become fearful and their tendencies begin to reflect panic and they are likely to turn to anyone even if they are evil as long as they can promise them the sense of security in turbulent times. When people are at their wits end they become easy prey for dictators and will sell their own souls for a little bread and shelter. I want you to look with me at some very important Scriptures that have everything to do with each one of us that are believers in Jesus Christ. First off, I want to look at something that the apostle Paul wrote and let it set the stage for our belief system to change for the good. You cannot afford in these uncertain economic times to neglect what I am about to show you from God's Word. This could just possibly save your life! Well, at least it could establish the truths that will keep that soundness of mind intact that God's Word tells us that He has given us.
