"Hindering the Work of God In Others" PWM Banner Master

When I discover the troubles of others and see them going through things that are hurtful and hard to watch, I want to get involved and help eliminate their problem. My convictions are always easily prompting me to do good for others. As a matter of fact my faith teaches that we who really walk in love are to help others when possible.

1 John 3:16-18 (NASB95)
16 We know love by this, that He laid down His life for us; and we ought to lay down our lives for the brethren.
17 But whoever has the world's goods, and sees his brother in need and closes his heart against him, how does the love of God abide in him?
18 Little children, let us not love with word or with tongue, but in deed and truth
.

Therefore, it becomes or seems natural for me being a Christian to want to help someone when I see them about to go through a crisis. When I see someone hurting I want to do whatever I can to alleviate that hurt in their life. When I see someone being treated unjustly I am driven from within to want to reach into their life and defend them. As a pastor I have always felt that was my responsibility and I certainly wanted to help those who were in need. But I have had to learn a very hard lesson and that is this, it is not my place to alleviate all the hurt in this world; to meet all needs; to stop all injustices and to stop everyone from experiencing pain in their life.

Sometimes we may discover that God allows a person to go through difficult things due to their own stubbornness and selfish agendas. You and I may have to sit back as hard as that may be and watch that person hurt, hurt, and even experience more hurt until they break down from depending on themselves; and look to God where they can finally get a real breakthrough instead of a Band-Aid in their life! I believe you and I get in God's way more than we realize because we simply think that our mission or mandate as Christian's is to alleviate everyone's troubles in life. My friends, according to Scriptures this is not our call. It was God in this dispensation of the New Testament and now who declared that a person would reap what they sow. Therefore, it should be no shock to us when we see people who are struggling due to their own rebellious ways. Actions that occur without seeking wisdom will eventually catch-up with its neglecters.

In this devotional we will look at just how we hinder what God is trying to accomplish in others. We will discover how you and I overstep our rightful place in another's life based on our emotions just like Peter did with Jesus. Are you ready to study a very controversial subject that is sure to enlighten many, and without a doubt, will create outrage in others? This is a subject that all sincere Christian's should want to understand as they serve God and others.

My Prayer For Today...

Lord, I am grateful that You love us so much that You gave Your only begotten Son, Jesus, for the sins of the whole world. I thank You that I will never be judged for my sins ever again. Your Word declares that You have blotted out every transgression that was or will ever be held against me, and for that I am truly thankful.  I have been pardoned. I have been set free from myself and my adversaries.

Help me to realize the purpose and plans that You have for my life. I pray that I might know the full counsel concerning the call on my life. Teach me Your inward voice so that I might know how to respond to those who are hurting. I desire to serve You and others in love and with great humility. Allow me to hear Your Words with clearity so that I only say what You have spoken, and help me to keenly watch what You are doing so I may do that only. Teach me to walk in such a way that I never hinder what You choose to do in others. May I reflect Your goodness in everything I endeavor to accomplish for Your kingdom and for Your glory. Amen!

Thank You! My blessed King!
