SENIOR HOME SALE QUESTIONS FOR SASH

PROVIDER'S QUESTION
How do you
handle home sales in which the senior homeowner
has dementia or Alzheimer's? Do you still buy their
home?

THE SASH TEAM'S ANSWER
SASH
frequently works with senior homeowners who have
memory / cognitive impairments. In these situations,
our Team members are careful to have family
members and caregivers involved who have Durable
Power of Attorney and can help their senior loved one
through the process.
SASH takes every
precaution to involve all decision-makers, giving as
much time as the family needs to choose the best
home sale plan. In addition, we have 9 Client
Protections, which keep SASH accountable and
transparent in our service to senior homeowners.
Call us for details! Consultations are free
and provided with a smile.

SASH provides seniors with a
private, custom-designed, and stress-free sale of their
home.

Those we serve, seniors, are often caught in a difficult
situation when it comes to making big decisions
about care and finances. They have much more
experience and wisdom than their caregivers and
family members, and so should be able to make
choices fine on their own. On the other hand, their
slower pace often leaves them behind the curve on
new resources, issues, laws, and care options. So
family and caregivers step in to encourage them
towards the best path. The result? Sometimes there
is hostility, poor commication, and misunderstood
intentions on both sides. Seniors say there's a way to
talk to them that's more effective. Use respect, they
say - don't use "military mode" when communicating
with senior loved ones. Slow down, says another.
Don't be pressed for time in each conversation. Give
them credit for knowing their own bodies, says
another. Drop the stereotypes about seniors in your
conversation. Finally, suggest, but don't nag.
Remember their breadth of life and experience in your
communication. Source: "Seniors Have Their Say" by
