It Is Time for the Next Visit from the Lichtenbergs
Bobbie and Gershom would love to visit with all of you on the afternoon of Saturday, June 2nd in the Social Hall of Etz Chaim.
As many of you know, they have lived in Israel for almost 5 years but make periodic visits back to visit family and friends. One of the highlights of their visit is to see as many of you as possible and this is the best way for them to do that. It also gives them a chance to find out what you would like to know about Israel, be it their personal lives or their perceptions of situations there.
Please join them on Saturday, June 2nd from 3:30 - 6:00 PM whether you are old friends, new friends or about to become friends of theirs. Please RSVP to Gershom if you plan to be there.

Adult Ed Committee Is Now the Lifelong Learning Committee
At the Annual Meeting, changes to the bylaws were approved. It was approved to change the name of the Adult Education Committtee to the Lifelong Learning Committee. The committee believes that the new name more clearly identifies our congregation's commitment to the value of lifelong learning, which is a basic tenet of Reform Judaism. They want to reinforce the idea that continued Jewish learning is not only for a certain segment of our congregation, and it is not something that ends with confirmation. It is something that sustains us and strengthens our identity as Jews and role models for our children to emulate. It was also approved to revise our congregation's mission statement to recognize lifelong learning as well.

The Greater Chicago Jewish Festival for 2012 is a special event. There will be three stages with music, dance and storytelling, a family stage, a Kosher Food Fair, and an Art Fair and Organization Fair.
This Festival marks over 30 years since the first Festival brought the Chicago Jewish community together. Therefore, we will concentrate more of our performer time and artists on those from Chicago or with Chicago roots.
