Selichot
On Saturday, September 24th we will recite the prayers of repentance. The Selichot service is the only Jewish worship experience which takes place in the middle of the night. Read more here.

High Holidays 5772
Rosh Hashanah begins Wednesday evening, September 28th at 8:15 PM, Yom Kippur will begin with Kol Nidre on Friday evening October 7th at
8:15 PM. For all holiday service times, click here.
The Sisterhood provides High Holiday babysitting, and High Holiday food for Erev Rosh Hashanah, Break-the-Fast for Yom Kippur and Sukkot.
Tickets will be mailed in mid-September to those members who have returned their Membership Commitment form and are current in all their financial obligations.
If you need to purchase a prayer book, please contact the synagogue office or visit the website for the order form.

Social Action Shabbat- Friday, September 16th
Please join us on Friday, September 16th for the Shabbat service sponsored by the Social Action Committee. The program, Behind Closed Doors: Surviving Domestic Violence, includes original art work by survivors and a discussion by a Family Shelter Service social worker. She will provide information about the artists, intervention when there is suspicion of violence, and services the agency provides to its victims.
This should be a very informative evening.

Adult Beginning Hebrew Class with Cindy Michelassi
The classes will meet on Monday nights starting September 19th at 7:30 PM and run for 10 weeks:
September 19th, 26th, October 3rd, 10th, 17th, 24th, 31st, November 7th, 14th, 28th and December 5th.
The cost for this class is $50 which includes all books and materials.

Torah Study
The regular session of our Torah Study group will resume on Saturday, September 10th. We meet on Saturday mornings at 9:00 AM. We study the text of the Bible in sequence. For many, many years the weekly Torah Study group has been a highlight of my week. Read more here.

Religious School News
The Religious School classes are filled on a first come basis and are filling up fast. Please return all your forms as the first day of Hebrew school is Wednesday, September 7th and the first day of Religious School is Sunday, September 11th.

Trips to Israel 2012
There will be two trips to Israel offered in 2012. Rabbi Bob will lead an adult trip March 25- April 4, 2012 and Anne Stein will lead a family trip in June 2012.

Jewish Funds for Justice
Starting in September DuPage United will have a full-time intern for 6 months - paid primarily through the Jewish Funds for Justice. Ishraq Ali has been accepted as the intern for DuPage United. Read more here.
