Thank You from Christ the King Parish
Dear Rabbis Bob and Cosnowsky:
What a wonderful gesture on the part of the Congregation at Etz Chaim to share food and other goods with our Food Pantry on the High Holiday. Last year your Congregation provided a record number of bags, and this year they surpassed that record with some 390 total bags. This is the largest food drive in our histor s a Food Pantry, and we are most grateful.
It comes at a time when more and more people need assistance, which makes it even more important to us. Your Congregation gives new meaning to the words "Good Neighbors."
Not only were your members generous, the Senior Youth Group did an outstanding job shuttling the bags from the cars to our vans, which made for a very smooth transition. And they did it very willingly.
I hope that you will have time to visit the Food Pantry to see first hand what we do and how we do it. You are welcome any Monday. Please extend our deep appreciation to the Congregation for their generous support of the Food Pantry. |

Message from Rabbi Cosnowsky
I love to study prayer, but even more so, I love to teach about it. I realized this while taking a summer class during my years of study.

Donate Your Shoes this Fall
In less than a month, Etz Chaim congregants have donated enough shoes to send a Tanzanian orphan to school for one year! Let's see if we can send two or three orphans to school!! Our shoe collection continues through the end of October for an organization called Stuff for the Poor whose founder, Rwandan genocide survivor Providence Rubingisa, will speak at Social Action Shabbat on October 15th. We hope you will join us.

Wanted: College Student Addresses
Each year, the Youth Committee collects college student snail mail addresses and email addresses. Why? Because we want to keep our college students connected to the Etz Chaim community. How? We send them the E-Bulletin, "goodie" boxes at festive times of the year, and list them in the Kesher (URJ) directory of Jewish college students. We need both regular mailing addresses and email addresses of freshmen as well as returning college students. Addresses are not saved from school year to school year, so we need addresses even if you sent them in past years. Please send address information to the synagogue office by email. |
