A New Geniza to be Opened Several years ago we built a geniza in back of the synagogue, outside the library. A geniza is a burial place specifically for worn-out Hebrew-language books, papers or sacred religious objects.
The original geniza is full so this year's Confirmation class has donated the money to open a new geniza, which is also in the back, near the garden. We will be putting items in the geniza on Wednesday, May 12th during Hebrew school and on Sunday, May 16th during religious school. We will have a ceremony so the objects have a proper burial.
If you have any old sacred books or objects in your home that you would like to bring for burial, please bring them on either Wednesday or Sunday. |

One of our Judaica teachers, Uli Widmaier, teaches the 9th graders Ethics. Recently, he wrote the following email on Ethics within our congregation.

Brotherhood Golf Outing- Sunday, July 25th
Please save the date to play in the 2010 Brotherhood Golf Outing, which will be held on Sunday afternoon, July 25th at Klein Creek Golf Course in Winfield. Once again, we'll be playing a scramble format, so everyone can participate and have a fun day. Dinner at the course will follow golf. We're holding the event later this year to avoid conflicts with the June weddings and graduations, so we hope everyone, new and old will be able to come. Sign up details will be presented soon, but please call or email Jon Berman if you have any questions.
