Free Outdoor Performance at Hopewell- June 18 - 20
June 18, 19, @ 7:30 p.m.
Admission to the play is free. No tickets or advance reservations are required for entrance to the play.
After presenting "The Passion Play" since 1963, the Hopewell UMC Drama Ministry has taken a new direction by offering a production of Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat. As has always been the practice at Hopewell UMC, all performances will be free of charge to the public, and no tickets are required. The performances will be in the church's 900 seat outside amphitheater, or in the event of inclement weather in the sanctuary. Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat is a comedic musical written by Andrew Lloyd Webber and Tim Rice, the same team that wrote the musicals Jesus Christ Superstar and Evita. The play has been made into both live-action movies and animated movies (including DreamWorks and VeggieTales!), as well as multiple stage shows. The musical tells the Genesis story of Joseph, beloved by his father but envied by his 11 brothers, who is the humble and obedient servant to whom God revealed the meaning of dreams. It has been called one of the finest stories in world literature.
