Your Weekly Update from
Grassroots Grantmakers

Question of the Week
In these tough economic times, what are you doing to show the value of grassroots grantmaking and maintain your commitment to this work?

Janis blogged about this same subject several weeks ago - read what she says about why grassroots grantmaking programs may be more important now than ever.

But now we want to hear from you!  Send us a note about how you are approaching this question, and we'll post them to share.

Small Grants & Foreclosures
How can a little money, sime simple strategies, and a few neighbors make a difference in a foreclosure ridden neighborhood?

Grassroots grantmaking strategies have a lot of power here - Read Janis' blog and find out!

Have some ideas of your own? Chime in - we'd like to hear from you. Post a comment on the blog to keep the conversation going.

On Beginning with Residents
Are you convinced that resident lead ideas are the wealth that drives the best kind of community change?

So is Craig McGarvey, author of GrantCraft's recent guide "Funding Community Organizing."

Read our recent interview with McGarvey to learn more about what he has to say.

Join a Learning Circle
Once a month Grassroots Grantmakers hosts a learning circle for individuals who staff neighborhood resource centers.

This is a small group that meets monthly by phone.  The group is
  • sharing promising practices
  • identifying common challenges and work together on solutions
  • offering mutual support and
  • building a peer network.
If you're working with a neighborhood resource center and welcome this kind of support, please join us!

Email Kristin Senty for more information.
