It's the annual 7.6 mile footrace up the Mt Washington Auto Road. Come watch some
of the top runners in the world and some local talent in this grueling
footrace to the summit of Mt. Washington. Call 603-863-2537 for more
information. The Auto Road will be open to the public from 1:00 pm until
6:00 pm to allow for the race.
The 21st Annual Bach Festival: August 23 and August 28 - 30, 2009. The music of Johann Sebastian
Bach and friends
will echo through the valley again this summer. Four
different musical offerings will be spread over two weekends.
Sunday, August 23rd: Organ recital Friday, Saturday & Sunday, August 28 - 30: Choral and Instrumental programs. More info here. Stone Mountain Arts Center: The Stone Mountain Arts Center is a beautiful timber frame
music hall hosting national acts up close and personal in an equally

Washington Valley Theatre Company: The Mount Washington Valley Theatre Company is a live professional musical theatre featuring actors, directors, and crew from across the country. For 39 years, MWVTC has been bringing quality Broadway musicals to its stage at the Eastern Slope Playhouse in North Conway Village. Advance reservations strongly recommended. Outdoor family friendly concerts are held at the base of Mount Cranmore's
North Slope. This
year, the schedule features Livingston Taylor, the annual Symphony Pops
Concert Under the Stars followed by spectacular fireworks, and a Big

donation at the gate suggested. Click here for more info. Gorham 2009 Summer Concert Series: Concerts are held in the Gorham Town Common every Tuesday (rain or shine) from June 23 to August 18, 2009. Just 30 minutes north of North Conway, Gorham was incorporated in 1836 and has maintained its historic,
small-town atmosphere. The village has many appealing shops, excellent accommodations and dining for everyone, from casual to gourmet. Concert times are 6:30 pm - 8:30 pm. Click here for concert schedule. The 21st Annual Wildman Biathlon: August 8, 2009 -This is one of New England's toughest one-day, multi-sport events. Athletes from all over the United States and Canada come as individuals
and teams to experience
this event, challenging their endurance amid some of the most
spectacular scenery in the Northeast. The event starts at 8am in
Shelburne, NH with a 10k run, followed by a 22.3-mile bike to the base
of Wildcat Mountain, and finishing with a 3-mile uphill run on the
Polecat Trail to the panoramic finish line. 24 Hours of Great Glen: For 24
hours on August 8-9, 2009, mountain bike riders will take on the racecourse for this challenging and
grueling event held at Great Glen Trails in Pinkham Notch. Registration
is open for those who want to participate. Spectators are encouraged
to come cheer on the racers and enjoy the festivities under the event
tent. This is the 14th year of the event. Live Music After Hours: Many of the area's restaurants and pubs feature live music. The Red Parka Steakhouse and Pub

Mountain Garden Club Annual Plant Sale: June 6, 2009 - The Annual Spring Plant Sale at the North Conway Community Center
located in North Conway Village
adjacent to Schouler Park. This is the event avid gardeners and those
with a passion for plants and flowers look forward to each year. Direct
from the gardens of the MGC's "Green Thumb" members, the club
will be offering annuals, perennials, herbs, houseplants, hanging baskets and much more. A new feature this year is a sizeable
assortment of Dahlia bulbs for sale. This
fundraiser benefits the Mountain Garden Club's Alice T. Madden
Scholarship Fund and the numerous beautification projects undertaken

2nd Annual Bike & Gear
Swap: Saturday, June 13, 2009 (rain date
of June 14th) from 8:00 am -
1:00 pm. Recycle your old bikes, parts and athletic outdoor gear. The Mt. Washington Valley Velo Club, the
New England Mountain Bike Association (NEMBA) White Mountains chapter and the
North Conway Public Library are
co-sponsoring a Community Bike and
Gear Swap. Proceeds will go toward supporting youth cycling in the
Mount Washington
Valley. Buy, sell or donate. The event will be held at the
Moat Mountain Smoke House on route 16 in North Conway. FMI or to rent a table,

Inntervention: The Bed
& Breakfasts Inn Mount Washington Valley (BBInnsMWV), will host the
first Green Inntervention, Saturday, June 13th between the hours of 10
am and 5 pm. This event is conceived to illustrate sustainability and
eco friendly living as enjoyable as it is beneficial. Ticket holders
will track down treasure as they move about the valley, picking up
pointers on how to Reduce, Reuse, Recycle along the way. Each inn will
host a "Twisted Yankee Swap" with items to trade for items the ticket
holders have brought with them, reducing the need for new manufacturing
(and cash). A "Green Treasure" item will be raffled at each inn and
nine raffle tickets are a part of each original ticket purchase.
Proceeds benefit the Bed & Breakfasts Inn Mount Washington Valley
Hospitality Scholarship Fund & the Civic Improvement Fund of the
Mountain Garden Club. Participating inns include: Buttonwood Inn,
Cabernet Inn, Cranmore Mountain Lodge, The Farm by the River B&B,
Mt Washington B&B, The Nereledge Inn, The Notchland Inn, The Oxford
House Inn and Spruce Moose Lodge. All are members of either the New
Hampshire or Maine Sustainable Lodging and Restaurant Association. For

Do: Help keep Mt Washington Valley clean. Pack it in and pack it out.
Do: Bring a variety of footwear for walking, hiking or just being comfortable. Don't: Arrive during peak periods (weekends and during July & August) without a reservation. The area can fill up and we want you to enjoy your visit. Visit our website for lodging information. Don't: Forget the bug spray as our little black fly friends tend to visit during June.
