Adventure in Mt. Washington Valley2nd Annual Rally in the Valley: June 19-25, 2009 - Presented by White Mountain Harley Davidson and just 50 miles from the annual Laconia Bike week, enjoy a week of events geared entirely for motorcycle enthusiasts. Surrounded on all sides by roads meant for motorcycles, Mt. Washington Valley's communities offer bikers the ultimate rally experience. Motorcyclists looking for lakes, mountains, hills, curves and beautiful country roads with breathtaking views will find it in Mt Washington Valley. This official event of the Laconia Motorcycle Week features live music, cookouts, Poker Run, bike show, "Ride to the Sky" up Mt. Conway Scenic Railway: Take a nostalgic train ride through Mt. Washington Valley. All trains depart from the historic station in Schouler
Park in the village of North Conway. Whether you choose
one of the Valley routes to Conway or Bartlett, or the legendary
Crawford Notch excursion, you'll experience the excitement of rail
travel in the comfort of open or enclosed restored passenger cars. Thomas the Train visits in July and tickets are available online. The 2009 operating season begins April 18. The Hartmann Model Railroad Model Railroad and Toy Museum: Explore 10 operating layouts and over
30 trains in different gauges here. Seventy showcases are
filled with 15,000 modeling items from all over the world. Plus train enthusiasts will find a large variety of hobby kits for
trains, cars, boats, planes and everything you need for assembly in the Brass Caboose Hobby Shop. Open starting May 15, 2009.
Zip Rider at Wildcat Mountain: Soar a half mile over tree tops,
ski trails, and a river on a zip-line cable at 45 miles per hour! Riders are treated to breathtaking scenery, fun & adventure the whole
family will enjoy. Tickets are sold on a first come, first served basis and they do sell out... so come early. Open weekends
May 23 - June 20, 2009 and then open daily weather permitting through
mid-October. Canopy Tour at Mount Washington Resort: Descending over 1000 feet of elevation, the tour takes nature-lovers
and thrill-seekers across a series of treetop zip lines. One of
the longest canopy tours in the continental United States! high-flying
suspension bridges and hiking trails connect the zip lines. The
tour concludes with the Williwaw Racing Zip, a dual, side-by-side zip
line leading into the Bretton Woods base area. Open year-round. Monkey Trunks: Located in Chocoura, this is New England's only high ropes adventure course open to the general public. Take adventure to new heights with this series of zip lines and ropes courses, jumping platforms, swinging beams, tightropes and swings located high in the sky for an extra thrill. For real adrenaline junkies try the Jungle Course - 15 of the toughest challenges traversing through the forest of the White Mountains. Begin with a 90 foot zip line into the forest and end with a giant swing into one of the world's largest spider webs. It's perfect for team building corporate events and even birthday parties. Open weekends May 23 - June 28 then daily through August. Lift Service Mountain Biking: If you are a serious downhiller looking for challenging
terrain, Attitash has it. The Flying Yankee
chairlift ride provides access to more than five miles of mixed-trail
and single-track downhill terrain for advanced mountain bikers. A one-day
ticket also includes day-long use of the Alpine Slides, waterslides,
EuroBungy Trampoline and
climbing wall. Open weather permitting June 13 - September 1, 2009. Bike the Whites: This inn-to-inn bicycling tour combines the grandeur of the White
Mountains with the pampered luxury and exquisite cuisine of three of Mt. Washington Valley's finest country inns. Enjoy
three days of cycling along scenic back roads on gently rolling
terrain. Evenings feature gourmet dining, luxurious accommodations and the award-winning hospitality of The Brass Heart Inn, The 1785 Inn and
The Snowvillage Inn.
24 Hours of Great Glen: For 24
hours on August 8-9, 2009, mountain bike riders will take on the racecourse for this challenging and
grueling event held at Great Glen Trails in Pinkham Notch. Registration is open for those who want to participate. Spectators are encouraged to come cheer on the racers and enjoy the festivities under the event tent. This is the 14th year of the event.
Scenic Drives and Rides: Take your
favorite set of wheels and cruise. In all seasons Mt. Washington Valley is the
ideal location for scenic drives and bike rides. Bring your camera and capture the
spectacular views, lakes, waterfalls and wildlife. If you time it
right, you may
