What we New Englanders love most about living here is the change of seasons. Right now Mt. Washington Valley is ushering out a spectacular foliage season and welcoming the holidays. November is always a time of anticipation in the Valley. Shoppers delight in finding just the right gift for the holidays, and the Valley's 13 ski resorts and XC centers are gearing up for another great season. This is the time of year we call Harvest to Holidays, and it's filled with plenty of events, special shopping packages and preludes to the holiday.   • TWO INNS NAMED BEST OF BEDANDBREAKFAST.COM

    Two of Mt. Washington Valley's inns received accolades from B&B, the most comprehensive online B&B directory and reservation network worldwide. The Lazy Dog of Chocorua was selected as Best Pet-Friendly Inn and the Inn at Ellis River was named among the Best of New England. The awards were based upon an analysis of the quantity and quality of the reviews posted by guests of these inns on BedandBreakfast.com. No other destination in the United States had two winners so close to one another, testimony that Mt. Washington Valley offers a range of award-winning inns and B&Bs. Mt. Washington Valley has traditionally offered more award winners than any other New England destination. Past recipients of the Best of BedandBreakfast.com Awards are the Eastman Inn, the Notchland Inn and the Lazy Dog Inn.

    SHOPPERS UNITE! NOW'S THE TIME FOR HOLIDAY SPREES

    Shoppers, rev your engines. You'll have the time of your life shopping in tax-free Mt. Washington Valley, NH. Not only do more than 200 national brand name outlets, boutiques, galleries and craft shops await, but now through December 23, lodging properties throughout Mt. Washington Valley will celebrate the Harvest to Holidays promotion, offering added savings for shopping sprees. Fashionable brightly colored purses dubbed Shopping Survival Kits come complete with coupons, small gifts, energy bars, samples and more and await those who book a Harvest to Holiday getaway at participating lodging properties in Mt. Washington Valley.

    This year, plan your getaway to coincide with some of the special shopping events taking place in Mt. Washington Valley during November:
    November 9, 10, 11: Bring A Friend Shopping Weekend at Settlers' Green Outlet Village Plus - There will be plenty of giveaways, prizes, and fun activities to make shopping fun this weekend. Extended hours (8am-9pm Friday & Saturday) mean you can shop till you drop. Plus everyone gets discount shopping cards which mean additional savings off manufacturer's retail prices.     November 10: Nordic Ski Swap and Sale at Jackson Ski Touring Foundation - Kick off the Nordic ski season at the Annual Nordic Ski Swap and Sale from 9:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. There will be savings on new and closeout merchandise from the retail shop, plus great bargains on gear and clothing. Skiers of all ages and abilities can purchase quality cross-country ski equipment and gear at bargain prices.   • VETERANS HONORED ON NOVEMBER 11

    Join others as they salute the heroes of the US military who've served in the war. Throughout Veteran's Day, November 11, join vets for a Memorial Service, Flag Ceremony, parade down Main Street and other events. This event is organized by Post 95 American Legion. Special lodging and dining packages offered to veterans and their guests from area businesses.     CAPITOL STEPS AT STONE MOUNTAIN ARTS CENTER

    What better way to celebrate election week than watching the musical cast of this politically satirical group on November 8 and 9. You'll be rolling in the aisles as they poke fun at both parties and their candidates! They are back at Stone Mountain Arts Center for an encore performance once again during election week. This is a must-see performance for everyone from political junkie to those who want to learn more of the inside dirt on our illustrious leaders and leaders-to-be. The concert starts at 8:00pm, doors open at 6:00 and casual dinner fare is served. Tickets are $55.00. Come for the weekend and packages are available through Inn at Crystal Lake.   • KICK OFF THE HOLIDAYS WITH SANTA EXPRESS & SANTA'S VILLAGE

    Why bother with all the clean-up in the kitchen? Bring the whole family to Mt. Washington Valley and enjoy a Thanksgiving getaway here. Two traditions that have brought generations to Mt. Washington Valley return once again this year. Kick off the holidays with the Conway Scenic Railroad's Santa Express and Christmas Time at Santa's Village.     RED PARKA PUB CELEBRATES 35TH ANNIVERSARY IN NOVEMBER

    The Red Parka Steakhouse and Pub will celebrate its 35th anniversary throughout November with a different salute to Valley patrons every night. Heralded by SKI Magazine as one of the best après ski watering holes in the country, the Red Parka has long been known as a Mt. Washington Valley institution for fine food and fun. Every night throughout November, Red Parka patrons will enjoy specials and events, including random giveaways on Saturday nights, and "Two for $35" complete dinners - including Prime Rib and Choice NY Sirloin - on Wednesdays. In keeping with its allegiance to the Valley, the Red Parka Pub will celebrate its birthday by once again giving rather than receiving a gift. On Sunday, November 11, the Red Parka will kick off its first scholarship with a fundraiser and concert featuring two well loved groups from the 70's.
