STORY LAND PURCHASED BY KENNYWOOD
ENTERTAINMENT CO. Story Land, Mt.
Washington Valley's theme park where fantasy
lives, announced its sale to Kennywood
Entertainment Co in May. Story Land, located
on Route 16 in Glen, NH, was founded by
Robert S. and Ruth T. Morrell in 1954. The
park has operated continuously under two
generations of Morrell family ownership since
its inception, and has grown from a tiny
roadside attraction into one of New
Hampshire's most popular summer destinations.
"From Story Land's standpoint, we view this
more as a marriage into a larger family of
theme parks with similar values and
philosophies to our own, rather than a sale,"
said Nancy Morrell. "My brother Stoney
initiated discussions with Kennywood last
summer, and we've been able to continue the
conversation to a good conclusion. We
evaluated a number of options to ensure the
long-term success of the park that my parents
and my brother dedicated so much of their
lives to, and we truly believe that a match
with Kennywood is an ideal opportunity to
preserve their theme park legacy. We're
honored that Kennywood considers us a good
fit for their company."
Story Land opened for its 54th consecutive
season on Memorial Day Weekend. The
pay-one-rate admission fee of $23 includes
unlimited rides and shows, numerous unique
play areas, live storybook characters, and
more. Story Land is located in New
Hampshire's White Mountains region, on Route
16 in Glen, NH. For more information about
Story Land, call 603-383-4186, or visit Story
Land.
