safely through the Chamber’s new online
reservations function found at Mt.
Washington Valley. Simply click on the
Online Reservations icon easily found at the
home page, enter the dates you wish to stay,
and a host of resorts, B&Bs, hotel and motel
options will appear. Travelers may sort
choices by price, hotel name or town. Just a
few clicks, and your lodging reservations are
quickly and securely booked via this new

HANNES SCHNEIDER MEISTER CUP RETURNS TO CRANMORE
The Annual Hannes Schneider Meister Cup
race returns to Cranmore Mountain Resort
Saturday, March 10 for a festive day of
skiing nostalgia. The 10th Mountain Division
World War II Veterans and active duty Color
Guard will be at Cranmore along with
travelers from afar to celebrate and honor
Hannes Schneider, the father of American
skiing. Activities include opening ceremony,
silent auction, and the race to benefit the
New England Ski Museum, located in Franconia,
NH. Race winners will have their names
inscribed on the historic trophy on permanent

WINE DINNERS A GROWING TRADITION
THORUGHOUT MT WASHINGTON VALLEY
On Friday, March 23, The Mount Washington
Resort at Bretton Woods will continue a
budding tradition by hosting a special wine
dinner in the Hotel’s Sun Dining Room. This
evening, Mr. Stephen Carrier, winemaker from
Newton Vineyard in California will be
displaying the vineyard’s collection of
wines. To compliment this quality, Chef J.
Desmond Keefe CHE, Instructor at Southern New
Hampshire University, will be sharing his
expertise in a healthy-cooking demonstration.
The evening guests will enjoy specially
selected Newton Vineyard wines during a
four-course set dinner. The price of $80,
including tax and gratuity, includes a wine
reception in the Princess Lounge prior to
dinner. On Saturday, guests are invited to
participate in a variety of informational
seminars related to the winemaking process
and palatable food experience. Stephen
Carrier Stephen was born and raised in
Champagne, France, and grew up in the
vineyards of his winemaking parents. Stephen
earned a master’s degree in Enology from the
University of Reims France and has worked at
some of France’s most notable wineries,
including Chateau Pichon Louguville Baron in
Pauillac, Champagne Chanoine in Champagne,
and Chateau Lynch-Bages in Bordeaux. He first
visited California in the mid-1990s to study
English. He also became assistant winemaker
at Newton Vineyard and discovered a passion
for making wines; a skill that he then took
back to Bordeaux. In 2006, he returned to
Newton Vineyard as winemaker. Why not plan

RED PARKA PRESENTS THE MOST ESTABLISHED
DUAL SLALOM AMATEUR-PRO RACE IN THE COUNTRY
The 34th Red Parka Challenge Cup Race is
scheduled for Friday, March 16th at Attitash
in Bartlett, NH. Rumored to be the oldest
amateur dual slalom, pro-style race in the
country, it draws the best ski racers from
New England. This is also one of the best
spectator races around.
The Qualifying Run starts at 9:30 am – the
top 32 advance to the A & B Division Finals
which start at 1:00 in head to head dual
slalom format. The top 8 Women who do not
make the A or B Divisions also run off
against each other in head to head dual
slalom. This year, we have added another
run-off for the top 8 in the Veteran’s
Division. To be considered a Veteran, you
must have raced in at least 3 previous
Challenge Cups and be over 40. In addition,
there is the William D. Paine Team Trophy
which will be won by the 4 person co-ed team
with the fastest combined times. All proceeds
go to the Eastern Slope Ski Club Jr Ski
Program. Gold Sponsors of the race are

NCAA SKI CHAMPIONSHIPS AT JACKSON SKI
TOURING AND ATTITASH
The nation’s finest collegiate ski racers
will head to Mount Washington Valley for the
54th Annual NCAA Ski Championships, March
7-10 hosted by the University of New
Hampshire at Attitash and Jackson Ski
Touring. Come cheer collegiate skiers on and
watch some high-stakes racing. For more

REMICK MUSEUM TO HOLD ITS ANNUAL MAPLE
SUGARING EVENT ON SATURDAY, MARCH 17, 2007,
1-4PM.
Tamworth, NH: This is your lucky day! The
Remick Country Doctor Museum & Farm will hold
its annual Maple Sugaring special event on
Saturday, March 17, 2007, from 1-4pm. See a
demonstration of Colonial and modern backyard
boiler "sugaring off" methods, whose result
is delicious grades of maple syrup. Taste a
variety of maple products like maple cream,
maple jelly, maple candy and the all-time
favorite sugar-on-snow! Maple producer, John
Dyrenforth of Chocorua, will have syrup
available for sale.
Exhibits at the Remick Museum will explore
the life of maple trees, tapping trees,
collecting sap, and boiling it down to syrup.
Learn how this process was first introduced
to early European settlers by Native
Americans. Come inside the Visitor’s Center
and tour the living quarters of Dr. Edwin
Crafts Remick, the country doctor who owned
the property. The K. A. Brett Elementary
School PTA of Tamworth will sell food and
refreshments as a fundraiser. This event is
free and open to the public, and is suitable
for all ages. Admission to the Museum is
always free. Donations are gratefully accepted.

With daytime temperatures warming to the high
30’s and nights still below freezing, maple
sugaring season gets into full swing in New
Hampshire in March. It all culminates on the
fourth Sunday of the month when maple
sugaring huts celebrate Maple Sunday
throughout the state. Snowvillage Inn is
