 FAMILIES ROCK
ON
Dreaming of helping your kids reach new heights?
Leave the indoor climbing wall behind. The EMS
Family Rock Climbing program is for families with
young children, ages 6-14 years who would like to
experience the thrill of rock climbing with half-day
and full-day family rock climbing programs. During
your day, you will spend time at a small cliff where
everyone will get a chance to climb and learn to
rappel and belay as they gain confidence. The
climbing is meant to be non-intimidating with more
difficult climbs available for those who would like the
challenge. In addition to the climbing time, you will
learn how all the basic equipment works, how the
safety systems function, and how to move on the
rock. All the instruction is hands-on so you will learn
by doing.
The four hour/half day programs are perfect for
families with young children and shorter attention
spans. Plan to get right on the rock after an
abbreviated safety talk. The seven to eight-hour, full
day programs are for those families who want a more
in-depth lesson on rock climbing. These families will
receive a more detailed explanation of the equipment
used, more hands on instruction, and more time to
climb. The cost includes all technical equipment
needed for the day and your guide. The half day
clinic for a group of 2 to 5 adults and kids is $185
(for the group); the full day price is $350 (for the
group). All programs utilize the expertise of guides
and teachers from Eastern Mountain Sports. EMS
also sponsors teen rock climbing adventure camps,
perfect for teaching teens agility, safety and
confidence skills. For more information, contact the
EMS Climbing School at 1-800-310-4504 or EMS Climbing
School.
