 CLIMBING FOR CHICKS ONLY,
JUNE 17-
18
Mt. Washington Valley is legendary in the minds of
rock and ice climbers. Its rock walls are among the
most accessible and challenging in the country. In
addition, a host of retailers dedicated to the sport,
make the Valley a mecca for those addicted to the
thrill of the climb. That’s why EMS climbing school
has dedicated June 17-18 Woman’s Rock Climbing
Weekend. Ladies, prepare yourself for two days of
rock climbing, instructional clinics, a dinner, gear
auction and an amazing slide show exclusively for
women climbers of all ages and abilities. There will be
demo equipment for event participants to use and a

programs. What more could a woman want? There
are a variety of different clinics scheduled
throughout the weekend for all ability levels. Clinics
are $95, and lead by locally renowned woman
climbing instructors. For a complete schedule and
more information, visit

 MOTORCYCLES “RIDE TO
THE SKY” AT
THE MT WASHINGTON AUTO
ROAD
On June 15, 2006, the Mt. Washington Auto Road will
hold the Fifth Annual "Ride to the Sky”. The Auto
Road will be closed to cars and will be open for
motorcycles only. Hours for Ride to the Sky are 7:30
am to 6:00 pm, weather permitting. The event will
include the fifth annual fundraising cookout of the
Mt. Washington Valley Chapter of the Harley Owners
Group (HOG) #8166 to benefit local charities. An tent
will be at the base of the mountain where you’ll find
the cookout, event souvenirs and T-shirts. The only
other vehicles that will be allowed on the Auto Road
on June 15th will be Mt. Washington Auto Road
Guided Tours. These vans take up to ten people at a
time in a guided tour to the summit. The drivers will
share the history and lore of the Auto Road during
the 30-minute trip. Guided tours will be available for
riders who would rather leave their bikes at the base
and for those who can't take their cars up the Road
that day. Those who do make the trip to the summit
should be prepared for just about any kind of
weather, and like everyday during the season; the
Mt. Washington Auto Road is open "weather
permitting." This year a rain date has been set for
Friday, June 16th and will only be used if weather
forces the Road to close to bikes on June 15th. The
cost for motorcycle and operator is $12; each
additional adult is $7 Guided tours are $26 for
adults, $11 children 5-12 years of age. For more
information, visit Mt.

WEEKENDS
While some of Mt. Washington Valley’s attractions
have already opened, Memorial Day marks the
weekend they ALL open for plenty of family fun.

(The Mount Washington Auto Road) to the second

MT WASHINGTON VALLEY IS PAR FOR
THE COURSE
Some are taken aback when they learn there are ten
golf courses within a 30-minute drive of Mt.
Washington Valley. Easily one of the golf-havens in
New England, the golf courses extend from Bretton
Woods to Jefferson to Gorham and down to Ossippe
and Parsonfield, Maine (near the NH border) allowing
avid duffers to play a different course every day.
Enjoy everything from challenging to scenic courses,
many with a legacy to match. There are plenty
offering lodging from the Mount Washington Hotel’s
course to Eagle Mountain Country Club and Hales
Location at the White Mountain Hotel. Others, like
the North Conway Country Club offer a “locals secret
to great food in a scenic location” for enjoying the
19th hole. Whatever the course, golfers will find a
new challenge each with a great view, in Mt.
Washington Valley’s course. Simply visit MWV
Golf for a complete description of the courses
and their features, events, hours and fees.
DRY AND OPEN FOR
BUSINESS
Mt. Washington Valley Chamber of Commerce joins
Governor Lynch to send the message that despite
the unfortunate flooding in the southern part of the
state last month, all parts of New Hampshire are
open and ready to welcome visitors. Northern New
Hampshire was fortunate to escape the spring
flooding experienced in the southern part of the
state. With the comfortable temperatures and clear
weather predicted this week, we anticipate a strong
June in Mt. Washington Valley. For a complete list of
places to go and things to do, visit
www.mtwashingtonvalley.org or call 800-DO-
SEE-NH (800-367-3364) for a guidebook offering
resources for your getaway planning.
