MWV Interchangeable Ticket Debuts in
January
Skiers asked for it, and they got it! The new Mt.
Washington Valley Interchangeable ticket is available
starting in January through a host of Mt. Washington
Valley lodging properties. Not a ticket you’ll find at
the ticket booths, the thirteen ski resorts and Cross
Country Center have teamed up with lodging

option only available through participating lodging
properties. The interchangeable pass is good for
either a lift ticket at your choice of any of Mt.
Washington Valley’s seven ski resorts (including
Attitash, Black Mountain, Bretton Woods, Cranmore,

lessons and rentals from any of the Valley’s six Cross
Country and Snowshoe Centers (including Bear Notch
Ski Touring, Bretton Woods XC, Great Glen Trails,
Jackson Ski Touring Foundation, King Pine XC Center
and Mt. Washington Valley Ski Touring and Snowshoe
Center).

Penguin
Cranmore Mountain Resort will once again see just
how fast a penguin can slide down the mountain
during the 2nd Annual Great Penguin Race on
Sunday, January 8, 2006. Cranmore penguins are
now available for $5 at Ticket Haus or for purchase
the day of the race. All proceeds from the sales will
benefit the North Conway chapter of the Salvation
Army. Registration is from 9:00 a.m. to 10:30 a.m.
at the Schneider Square fire pit located behind the
Main Base Lodge. Modifications can be made to the
penguins but it must weigh less than one pound and
be less than five inches long. North Conway's
favorite penguin, C-More, will kick-off the Great
Penguin Race at 11:30 a.m. as contestants release
their penguins down a specially designed penguin
slide track at the base of North Slope. Winners will
be determined in each heat to advance to the finals.
Prizes will be awarded in the main base lodge at the
conclusion of the race. For more information on
Cranmore Mountain events please call 1-800-SUN N
SKI (786-6754) or visit Cranmore
Mountain.
 Jackson Ski Touring
Creates Eskergo Snowshoe Trail
Snowshoe enthusiasts will have a new trail to explore
this year at the Jackson Ski Touring Foundation.
From the base lodge, snowshoers will now be able to
travel along the scenic Ellis River trail out to the Ellis
River Cantina. This narrow and rustic trail runs
parallel to the Ellis River Trail, which has consistently
been voted the best cross country ski trail in the Mt.
Washington Valley for the past several years.
“For years folks have wanted a snowshoe route along
the Ellis River in Jackson. With this new trail, we
have created the opportunity for snowshoers and
skiers to meet at the Ellis River Cantina. The trail is
suitable for all ability levels and will provide an
intimate experience for snowshoers at Jackson Ski
Touring.
In addition to the new Eskergo trail, the Foundation
maintains a host of other trails specifically designed
for snowshoeing. There are snowshoe trails that
lead from the Touring Center to Nestlenook Farm,
and advanced trails can be found in the upper
elevations of Prospect Farm and on National Forest
trails within the Jackson Ski Touring trail network.
Snowshoe rentals are also available at the Jackson
Ski Touring Foundation’s base lodge.
Snowshoe Instructional Nature Tours are held on
selected Saturdays throughout the winter season
from 10:00 am – 12:00 noon. These popular tours
are led by a knowledgeable guide who gives
snowshoe technique tips along the way. The tours
also cover a variety of terrain, trails and wildlife
topics. The cost is $10 per person and rental
equipment is available. For more information on
snowshoeing, please contact the Jackson Ski Touring
Foundation at 603-383-9355 or at Jackson Cross
Country.

Cranapalooza Means Weekend Fun for
Families
What do we do with the kids at night is the ongoing
question of parents at most resort areas, but in Mt.
Washington Valley, with all the après ski options, we
haven’t forgotten the kids. Cranmore Mountain Resort
keeps things lively for families on Saturday nights in
the Mount Washington Valley. Cranapalooza is a
festival of music, entertainment and games with
North Conway's favorite penguin, C-More. It starts
on
Saturday afternoon and goes until 9:00 PM. In
addition to an endless amount of family fun, North
Conway's mountain of choice will light up the trails
with top-to-bottom skiing, riding, and tubing every
Saturday night through March 11.
"Cranapalooza is a night packed with
entertainment
for all ages," said Ben Wilcox, general manager for
Cranmore Mountain. "We want to give families a fun
entertainment option on Saturday nights. Between
night skiing, games with our mascot C-Mor, snacks
around the fire pit, and other entertainment, it's a
night not to be missed."
As darkness falls, Cranmore illuminates the night sky
with 11 lighted trails for top-to-bottom skiing and
snowboarding on Saturday nights. Night skiing lift
tickets are just $15 and include access to the
Cranmore Family Fitness Center from 4-9 p.m. Also
under the lights is Cranmore's top rated Arctic Blast
Tubing Park, with three lanes of high-speed
excitement. Two hours of snow tubing is just $17
For a full list of Cranmore events, please visit Cranmore
Mountain or call 1-800-SUN N SKI.
 King Pine Snowmonsters

Productions presents Cat On A Hot Tin Roof. M&D
Productions will open the first show of their 2006
