HAPPY HOLIDAYS!
The holidays are in full gear and Mt. Washington Valley is the place to enjoy them. According to a survey conducted by American Express, one in four Americans (27%) and a third of those aged 18 to 34 (33%)—plan to take a pleasure trip before the end of the year, and quite frankly we’re hoping that if you’re among those planning to travel it’ll be to visit us! The ski season is getting underway, there is an action packed calendar of family-friendly holiday events, and then of course there’s the tax-free shopping and 200 outlets, boutiques and shops for all those on your list. Plan to ring in the new year with Mt. Washington Valley’s fabulous New Year’s Eve celebration, topped off with skiing the next day.

    One Ticket Fits All!
    New Interchangeable Life Ticket
    Skiers asked for it, and they’ve finally gotten it. The thirteen ski resorts and cross country centers of Mt. Washington Valley, NH will partner with lodging properties throughout the Valley to offer ski & stay packages featuring a midweek ticket good at all seven alpine ski resorts and six cross country centers in the Ski Mt. Washington Valley consortium. Now, skiers will enjoy the freedom to choose any of Mt. Washington Valley’s award-winning ski resorts when they stay with participating lodging properties midweek. That’s not all, the same pass will offer all cross country skiers rentals and a group lesson, along with a trail pass. Home to more than 250 alpine ski trials and over 450 km of cross country skiing, not to mention 200 outlets, boutiques and shops, and more than 70 restaurants and après-ski options, Mt. Washington Valley is New England’s premier ski and stay destination. Recently named “one of the ten coolest ski towns in America” by Men’s Journal, North Conway and the surrounding villages and towns look forward to welcoming skiers seeking plenty of fabulous skiing, and freedom to choose from thirteen ski resorts.

    Packages featuring the new interchangeable ticket will be offered Sunday through Thursday nights from January 2, 2006 - March 16, 2006. The only blackout date is during February vacation week, February 19- 23, 2006. Participating alpine ski areas include Attitash, Black Mountain, Bretton Woods, Cranmore, King Pine, Shawnee Peak, and Wildcat. Nordic options include Bear Notch, Bretton Woods, Great Glen, Jackson Ski Touring, King Pine, and MWV Ski Touring.

    To date, more than 60 lodging properties have signed on with ski and stay packages featuring the ticket. Skiers have their choice of cozy B&Bs and country inns, budget motels, or full service resorts all offering the interchangeable midweek ticket with ski and stay packages. The interchangeable ticket is good Monday through Friday, and is only offered through lodging packages, and is not available for purchase at any participating ski resorts or cross country centers.

    Cranmore Opens New Burton Learn to Ride Center
    Join Cranmore Mountain Resort in the grand opening of the new Burton Learn to Ride (LTR) Center December 17 & 18, 2005. Located in the 10th Mountain HQ Pavilion the new LTR Center at Cranmore offers first time snowboarders premier Burton equipment designed specifically for beginners. The beginner equipment is different from regular equipment because the edge bevel is cut at a 3 degree angle which prevents hard falls, the board has a soft torsional flex for ease of initiating turns, the side cut is deep to pull you into natural carves, and the boots and bindings provide ultimate comfort . Grand opening activities and discounts include a $39 Learn to Ride and Learn to Ski package (regular price of $69), which includes an all day lift ticket, rental equipment, and a lesson for ages 13 & up, plus ski and snowboard movies playing all weekend and an opportunity to enter the Burton swag raffle.

    MWV New Year’s Festival
    The Mt. Washington Valley New Year's Festival is a spectacular event, full of sights, sounds, pageantry designed to bring people of all ages together to publicly greet the New Year. Children and families are the heart of the New Year's Festival which area residents and holiday visitors are invited to attend. The festival encompasses a variety of artistic expressions from outdoor recreational activities to indoor performances including music, comedy, storytelling and an array of art forms presented by local and regional performers. The spirit of the celebration is highlighted in a giant outdoor gathering in the village commons to see a magical Parade of Light, Fireworks, spectacular bonfires and finally, showcasing the lowering of the New Year's Eve Lighted Ball at midnight with a Fireworks Finale, all which help to shape the annual celebration of Mt. Washington Valley's New Year's Festival. Everyone is invited to join in ringing in the New Year 2005 in Schouler Park, the Heart of the Mt. Washington Valley.     Conway Village Parade and Tree Lighting
    It’s a full day of events as Conway Chamber of Commerce kicks off the season with its traditional parade and tree lighting. The schedule is packed. The New Majestic Theatre will be showing "The Grinch". 11:-00- 1:00pm. Please be sure to arrive early as there are only 50 seats at each showing. The Conway Congregational Church will offer a traditional "Chowder Lunch" from noon to 3pm for $5 per person. The Northway Bank will sponsor offer FREE Photo w/Santa in his Castle at The Conway Village Branch 3:00 - 4:00. At 4:00pm, the Annual "White Mountain Christmas Parade" through Conway Village will take place and immediately following there’s FREE Hot Cocoa & cookies with Christmas caroling led by the Valley's owns "local songbird": Becky Close Plus a special visit by Santa who will be lighting the Christmas Tree for the Holiday Season.     Holiday on Ice 2005 at Ham Arena
    The Mount Washington Valley Skating Club will present their annual figure skating exhibition featuring seasonal music and costumes on December 3 at 6:30pm in the Ham Arena. Solo and group performances by club skaters and coaches as well as programs by guest skaters from New England area skating clubs will highlight this family event. It all takes place at the Ham Arena. General admission tickets are $8.00 each and children six and under are free. There’s plenty of free parking on-site and the facility is ADA accessible. For more information visit MWV Skating Club.     C is for Cookie, Cheer and Community Donations
    It’s time once again for that fabulous cookie tasting tour, deemed the “Best Sugar High” by New Hampshire Magazine. Yes, the 9th Annual Inn to Inn Cookie and Candy Tour will take place December 10- 11, 2005. Tour 16 award-winning inns, all decked in their holiday finery, while you taste a fabulous array of holiday cookies and candies. Each tour goer will take home a keepsake collection of cookie recipes too. Sponsored by the Country Inns in the White Mountains, packages at participating inns feature two night stays, breakfast each morning and two tickets to the tour. Plan to make it a total cookie weekend and participate in the GREAT AMERICAN COOKIE & CANDY CONTEST. Bring a dozen of your favorite cookies along with the recipe marked with your name, address and phone number and you might win a weekend for two at any of the inns on the tour. Simply drop off your cookies at The Riverbend Inn on Route 16 in Chocorua on Friday, December 9 to enter. Tickets to the tour are $25 per person or included in participating inns’ packages. Proceeds will be donated to area non-profit groups. Tickets are available from participating inns through lodging packages or on the day of the tour at any of the inns.     The Mountain Garden Club of Mount Washington Valley will present their annual Holiday Boutique featuring a fabulous array of unique gifts on Saturday, December 10, 9:30 until “gone” at the North Conway Community Center. A variety of hand made, reasonably priced, decorative items will be offered including exquisite Hydrangea Wreaths and Baskets, seasonally decorated Ice Skates, Bobeches, Berry Bowls, Paperwhites, lavish Gift Baskets, Ornaments and much more.     Holiday Photos with Santa and Your Pet

    Whether it’s Fifi the Foxhound, Candy the Coon Cat or Larry the Lab, they’re all welcome on December 11th at Four Your Paws Only in North Conway, NH. From noon to 3pm, Santa will be on hand for photos with your pet. The fee is $5.00 which includes a FREE gift for your pet. There’ll be refreshments for you and your pet too.     Free Clinics Opening Weekend at King Pine Ski Area
    Opening day at King Pine is scheduled for December 16th, and they’re bound to help you get back on those skis. Brush up on your skills with free "quick tips" at King Pine Ski Area throughout their opening weekend! Geared for novice and intermediate skiers and riders, free clinics will be offered Saturday and Sunday, December 17-18, from 9 AM to Noon and they are a great way to tune up your technique!     Three then Free at Cranmore
    Cranmore offers first-timers an affordable way to take up snowboarding with its Three Then Free program. Individuals ages 13 & up can come to Cranmore and sign up for Three Learn-to-Ride programs throughout the season. On the fourth visit, guests receive a free Cranmore season pass good for the rest of the season. The best idea is to take your Learn to Ride lessons early in the season, then ride on throughout the rest of the winter.
