The E-traveler Mount Washington Valley, New Hampshire
September 2005

Fall foliage will soon be upon us, in fact in the Northern-most parts of the Valley, autumn comes early. Leaves have already started turning in the North Country. While only Mother Nature knows for sure, we anticipate a brilliant foliage season, having had plenty of rain over the summer.

We encourage you to plan your trip to Mt. Washington Valley for what is always the most beautiful time of year, but one word of warning - BOOK NOW OR FOREVER HOLD YOUR PEEP! No where in New England is foliage as beautiful as New Hampshire’s White Mountains. Thus, visitors come from all over the world to view the spectacle of colors. Add to that a full round-up of events and festivals, and fall foliage is clearly busy in the Valley. Don’t wait to book your autumn getaway. Visit www.mtwashingtonvalley.org and click on the lodging button to research the best places to stay, or for packages, click on the Harvest to Holiday wreath.

The Mt. Washington Valley Chamber of Commerce keeps an up-to-date list of lodging availability, as well as a complete calendar of events and more. We encourage you to call 1-800-DO-SEE-NH (or 800-367- 3364) if you have any questions, or need help finding a place to stay.

    Trash or Treasure?
Search your attics and closets then bring your belongings to the Antique and Art Appraisal Day to see if you’ve uncovered trash or treasure. The Mount Washington Valley Habitat for Humanity Chapter invites the public to bring their “treasures” to the Appraisal Day on Saturday, September 17, from 10am to 3pm at the 10th Mountain Division Building at Cranmore Mountain Resort, North Conway.

Appraisers from nationally renowned Skinner, Inc of Bolton and Boston, MA, seen on Antiques Roadshow, on PBS TV, will be available to examine your items. The two appraisers specialize in paintings and prints, ceramics, furniture, decorative art and “discovery” items (those mystery items we all possess). For $10 for one item and $25 for three items, your treasures will be verbally appraised. No coins, stamps, jewelry, firearms or musical instruments please. Appraisals will be done on a first come, first serve basis, with no appointment is necessary. Photographs of very fragile or very large objects are recommended. Help for moving items will be available at the door. This event will benefit the local chapters fund raising for the start of the next Habitat home on Robert Morrill Drive in Conway.
