This is the month of love - for significant others, for skiing and snow fun and family vacations. You'll love visiting Mt.     Don't Miss the Mount Washington Valley Winter Carnival
    February 26 - March 6

    Inaugurated last year, Mt. Washington Valley's Winter Carnival will feature ten days of on-and-off snow family fun. Filled with excitement and the beauty of winter in the White Mountains, the Winter Carnival offers 10-days of unique festivities combining food, music, entertainment, fun for all ages, and great outdoor winter sports and games.

    Bring the family and enjoy dining, dancing, ice carving and snow sculpture, winter games and just plain February - and March fun. Enjoy more than thirty events located throughout the greater Mt. Washington Valley. Activities include special events for the younger winter enthusiasts and their families and opportunities for the grown-ups to enjoy some special Carnival activities. Highlights of the event include a fabulous opening ceremony and Bavarian Polka Party afterwards, the Chilly Chili Cook- off, a wonderful snow sculpture contest, and much more. One button entitles the wearer to admission or discounts to all the activities during the special 10- day event. Buttons are $4.00 and available at the Mt. Washington Valley Information Booth in North Conway, Settlers' Green Outlet Village Information Center, Conway Village Area Information Booth, and the Jackson Area Chamber Information Booth.     2nd Annual Healing Arts Expo

    9am - 5pm

    Solace for the Body, Mind & Spirit. Come experience a fun and exciting place to learn about the world of holistic healing, natural health, personal development, positive living and spirituality. The 2nd Annual Healing Arts Expo will feature exhibit booths, free health screening by the Memorial Hospital and a series of workshops that will rotate throughout the day covering all aspects of Body, Mind & Spirit.

    Super Sampler Snow Fun Saturdays

    We debuted the Super On-Snow Fun Saturdays in the last issue of the E-Traveler, but we think they bear additional mention. Here's your chance to sample some new winter fun. The 13 ski resorts and cross country ski centers in Mt. Washington Valley have paired up for "Super - Sampler Snow - Fun Saturdays" where you can "sample another (or more!) winter sport. Each day and location will offer you one, or all, of the following - discounted lessons, demo equipment, specialty drinks and foods, various ski-related products to try out, even giveaways - in other words, everything you love about winter fun! We've already enjoyed two fun Super Sampling Saturdays, but there are plenty more to go:

    Feb. 5 Wildcat with Great Glen Trails - Mention Super Sampling Saturday at Great Glen Trail and get 50% off a full day of XC skiing, tubing and shuttle to Wildcat for the EMS Demo Day and New England Telemark free heel demonstration.

    Feb. 12 Shawnee Peak with New England Telemark -A fabulous learn-to-ski, snowboard and telemark festival with specially-priced first-timer packages and rentals, giveaways and specials in Blizzard's Pub. NorthEast Telemark will be here with demos and lessons!

    Feb. 26 Black Mountain with Jackson Ski Touring XC Center - get out on snowshoes or take part in kids events at Black Mountain.

    March 5. Cranmore with MW Valley Ski Touring & Snowshoe Ctr - Take in the final Jib Saw Massacre and enjoy Cranapalooza fun for just $12.

    Ski by the Light of the Moon

    Join other intrepid skiers not afraid of the dark at the 1785 Inn for a 7pm departure to ski the gentle terrain of the Intervale by the light of the full moon on February 21st. This guided tour will last for about 1.5 to 2 hours depending on the weather. Everyone is invited to return to the 1785 Inn to enjoy one of their wonderful homemade desserts included with the tour.

    Also, for the amateur astronomers in the family, bring a flashlight or headlamp to the 1785 Inn on February 13th for a 7 pm departure with an amateur astronomer from Tin Mountain Conservation Center to explore the gentle terrain of the Intervale. You'll learn about the stars and constellations of the winter sky then return to the Inn to enjoy one of their famous homemade desserts.

    February 27

    Who says chocolate is just for kids? Everyone loves chocolate, and on February 27th, the family that skis or snowshoes together will enjoy a chocolate buzz too. The Annual MWV Chocolate Festival encourages tour-goers to cross country ski, snowshoe or drive from inn-to-inn along the trails of the Mt. Washington Valley Ski Touring and Snowshoe Center connecting Intervale and North Conway enjoying chocolate specialties at participating stops. Sample cookies of all varieties, chocolate fondue, hot chocolate with whipped cream, homemade chocolate candies and pastries to name just a few. Visit every trailside stop then continue on to other area businesses offering more chocolate to festival participants. A shuttle will be circulating throughout the event to provide transportation back to your starting point. Tickets are available at the Mt. Washington Valley Ski Touring & Snowshoe Center for $20 which also include a button for admission to many Winter Carnival events.     Family Fest at Shawnee Peak
    February 24

    Everyone in the family can join in the fun during the Family Fest at Shawnee Peak. Whether feuding or feeding, families can take part in the 18th Annual Family Fest. The Family Fest will feature lots of activities like family feud fun race, a family snow sculpture contest, and a pie eating contest.     Bring Freddie and Fido to the Puppy Party

    On February 19th, no need to leave Rover or Fido home while the family visits Mt. Washington Valley. All puppies - young and old - are invited to the 7th Annual Puppy Party at Four Your Paws Only in North Conway Village from 12noon to 2pm. Your puppy will enjoy free doggie cake, ice cream, treats, a free bag of Nutros puppy food & biscuits as well as free nail trim, free bandana, photo of your puppy and so much more!     Bring a Friend and Ski Free at Attitash

    Give the gift of skiing or snowboarding by introducing a first timer and you will receive a free lift ticket. In a move designed to promote active lifestyles, Attitash is offering the highly successful Bring a Friend Program to introduce first time skiers and snowboarders to snowsports. By introducing a friend via a Learn to Ski or Ride Program, the more experienced of the two receives a free day on the slopes.

    The Learn to Ski or Ride Program includes learning area lift access, equipment rental and introductory instruction. Upon check-in, the first timer will be guided through the rental process in preparation for the program and the friend will be vended a lift ticket valid that day. Guests looking to take advantage of the Bring a Friend Program are required to reserve at Attitash at least seven days in advance of their visit. Call 603-374-2368 for more information.

    International Dinners at Appalachian Mountain Club

    The International Dinners at the Appalachian Mountain Club in Pinkham Notch have long been considered a local's secret. Each dinner features the cuisine of a different country, along with a free program focusing on the country following the dinner. Dinners are served family-style, and feature hearty and tasty fare from different countries each night. The programs are presented by those who've traveled to the country, usually featuring an informative slide show. Dinner is served at 6:00pm. The cost is $15.00 AMC members/$16.75 nonmembers for all you can eat. Reservations are recommended.

    Ski & Stay at Lavender Flower Inn

    This lovely B&B offers a number of great packages for those who love winter and enjoy staying affordably.
