Wine Tasting at Rainbow Lodge Friday, October 15th, 6 to 8 pm
|
| Join your
Northwest Corner friends for a lovely evening of wine, food and fun at one of
Houston's most beautiful venues: Rainbow Lodge.
Sip and stroll amongst 4 different stations, each with a special food and wine
pairing. You can go back to each station as often as you like.
A special incentive for the men of NWC to participate: To spice
things up a bit, we're inviting members of Out&Equal Houston and the
Continental GLBT employee group to join us. Both of their groups tend to
get more participation from more men than women, and since we have been
trending more women than men, we thought it would be fun for everyone to combine
our groups for this event.
October is a wonderful time for a tasting at the Lodge, since we'll be able to
enjoy the extensive deck, with its view of the beautiful grounds. Guitarist/singer Kenneth Scott will be
adding a nice musical note to the evening.
Here's the menu for the evening: Assorted Vegetable tossed with
Market Greens in Horseradish Dressing Wine: Tangent, Paragon Vineyard, Sauvignon Blanc
Classic Coq au Vin, Braised in Red Wine w/ Forest Mushrooms, Pearl Onions &
Smoked Bacon Wine: Baileyana, Grand Firepeak Cuvee, Pinot Noir
Slow Roasted Pork over Homestead Gristmill White Corn Grits with Smoked Pork
Jus Wine: Robert Hall, Syrah
Apple & Plum Crumble w/Old Fashioned Custard Sauce Wine: Hahn, SLH, Pinot Gris All of the wineries are SIP Certified
(Sustainability in Practice)
Tickets are only $29. To
reserve your spot, please call Rainbow Lodge at 713-861-8666. Attendance is limited to 150, so make your
reservations today!
Note: If you plan to pay at the door, it will be cash only.

Happy Hour and Dining Out Event Friday, October 29th, 6 pm at Forno's of Italy
|
|
The Dinette Set returns to our hood for this month's Happy Hour and Dining Out Event. Forno's of Italy is our destination. We'll have a private dining room for our exclusive use.
These dining out/happy hour events have proven to be consistently popular with us Northwest Cornerarians (Cornerites?). We consistently get about 30 attendees, and it's a nice mix of men and women.
Happy Hour goes from 6 to 7 pm, with dinner (open seating) starting at 7. You can come for either part of the evening, or for both.
Fornos of Italy is located at 6439 West 43rd at Hwy 290. For more information, you can call the restaurant at 713.688.8757
It's really important to RSVP for these events. We tend to totally swamp the restaurant if we don't set appropriate expectations for them, and that's not good for them or us. Soooo, please let us know if you're coming!

NWC New Year's Eve Gay-La December 31st, 9 pm at The Sandtrap Grill
|
|
We're still working on details, but we wanted to get on your calendars. Last year's New Year's Eve Party at the Sandtrap Grill was SUCH a big success that we're doing it again!
We're delighted to report that Joy De La O will be spinning tunes for us this year. According to Outsmart's Gayest and Greatest poll, Joy is our community's favorite DJ, so we're lucky to get her!
We've got a number of sponsorships in the works for this party, but so far we want to thank and recognize the following sponsors who will be participating in the Gift Bags that will be given to each attendee at the Gay-La:
Stay tuned to Northwest Corner News for more details in the coming weeks....
