Big Dreams
"The ancestor of every action is a
thought."- Ralph Waldo Emerson
I just got back from my vacation. One night
in Venice on either end of a week long cruise
(to Croatia, Turkey, and Greece) proved to be
an amazing adventure. Three nights in
Florence (with a day trip to Pisa - photo
courtesy of www.mymexicaneyes.com)
and two in
Rome overwhelmed my
senses. The art, the food, the culture, the
history all imprinted on my brain and have
created memories that I will cherish for the
rest of my life. There is something about
seeing the places you have only visited
through literature and movies that is surreal.
Thoughts become things
While on the cruise, I was able to attend
workshops provided by Mike Dooley. Mike is a
gifted speaker and
writer who is featured in The Secret. He
writes a daily
email that reminds his
subscribers (there are over 130,000 now) that
they are the creators of their own lives and
that "thoughts become things."
About two years ago, I wrote that I
would visit Europe. When I wrote the words,
it felt like a lie. My finances were in
terrible shape and the idea of taking two
weeks off from income generating activities
seemed the height of insanity. But here I
am, back from the most marvelous trip, with
renewed energy to achieve the rest of my dreams.
Believing is the first step
The greatest minds throughout the centuries
have told us that what we dream can become
reality if we believe. Having faith and
deciding that you are worthy of happiness
seem to be the first steps. After that,
taking one small step toward that dream is
easy.
What big dream do you have? Have you written
it down? Have you taken a small step toward
making it a reality?
As I've told you before, the simple act of
writing down that big dream has an almost
magical power. I don't know if it makes it
easier for the Universe to help
you or if by writing it down, you are more
focused on your goals. I only know it works
and just like electricity, I don't need to
know how it works to believe in it.
Here are my current big dreams
My big dream is to get my book finished and
published, but I've added another dream.
Let's see if I can speed this process up. I
want a renovated kitchen. (My family
probably wishes I had listed this one before
the trip to Europe.) My
first step is to get some estimates. Any
recommendations?
I'll let you know what happens. You let me
know what happens with your dreams as well, okay?
