Loveable plus-size heroine, Tracy Turnblad, has a passion for dancing, and wins a spot on the local TV dance program, "The Corny Collins Show." Overnight she finds herself transformed from outsider to teen celebrity. "Off the Beaten Path" Guided Hike: Fall Color Ridge Hike
October 20, 1- 3 PM
From high atop the ridges of Chimney Rock Mountain, enjoy dramatic views while surrounded in a sea of color, from deep red and maroon to fiery yellow and orange. Led by internationally renowned naturalist Ron Lance, soak up Western NC's legendary fall colors while hiking more than 1,000 feet above the valley floor. Bring your camera-this is their most scenic hike all year long! The 2-hour hike is moderately strenuous. Cost: $20 for Adults, $5 for Annual Passholders (includes Park admission for the day)

Capture vibrant fall leaf colors, 75-mile views and a 404-foot waterfall with your camera at Chimney Rock! Jeff Miller, an award-winning photographer published in regional, state and national publications with work exhibited throughout NC, leads both of these one-day, comprehensive workshops tailored to individual levels of experience. Thoroughly learn the basics on day 1 or explore more advanced concepts on day 2-or come for both to make large strides in your photography skills! Learn or refine your techniques to best shoot scenes from wide-angle to telephoto, including traditional flower portraits, intimate landscapes and vistas. Registration fees include all instruction, an Annual Pass and lunch for one or both days. Cost: Day 1: $88 Adult, $60 for Passholders. Day 2: $98 Adult, $70 Passholders. Both days: $160 or $125 for Passholders.

17th Annual Carolina Bonsai Expo
North Carolina Arboretum Saturday and Sunday, October 13 and 14, 2012.
Featuring juried exhibits by bonsai enthusiasts from a six-state region, a renowned bonsai marketplace, workshops, free demonstrations, and an ikebana exhibit provided by the Asheville Chapter of Ikebana International, the Expo is the premier annual bonsai event of the Southeast and the most popular plant show hosted by the Arboretum.

- Visit Chimney Rock Park
- A great place for a picnic. We can make one for you if you order it when you reserve your room.
- Visit the shops in downtown Chimney Rock
- Drive over to Lake Lure
- Take a boat ride around Lake Lure or take a Zip Line Tour at Canopy Ridge Farms.
- Head back to Hendersonville for dinner at one of the great downtown restaurants.
Estimated Cost: $295 for two nights at the 1898 Waverly Inn (Chimney Rock Park Package includes 2 Chimney Rock Park tickets), ~ $20 for picnic lunch, $30 for hour boat tour on Lake Lure or $120 for zip Line Tour, ~ $40 for dinner at Never Blue. Total: $385 - $475 + tax depending on activities.
