President's Corner:
"Serving Your Association"

This is such a good spot for me to "share" thoughts and ideas with you. I have just returned to my office after being with a very enthusiastic, professional, upbeat group of REALTORSŪ enjoying their Association business meeting/luncheon picnic at Arnold Park.
I often think we are such a fortunate group to be able to work hard, compete in the housing market place, and then to play hard enjoying the good company of friends and colleagues.
This meeting is always designated to introduce candidates for the Office of Director vacancies. I am going to encourage all of you to think about serving as a Director of your Association. I believe it is a very important position in providing us the success we hope to enjoy. There are eleven meetings a year, taking no more than two hours and usually only one to complete our work. Sometimes during the year you may be asked to attend other functions in which we participate, such as Trade Show, Community Service events and the Government Affairs Lobby Day in Albany. Serving on one of our Committees also only requires an hour each month of planning and decision making.
It is understandable your business time is very important to you, and I know how difficult it can be to schedule other meetings and activities with an already full agenda to be met. I find if I pencil in a meeting or activity in my day planner, I am able to attend and schedule other appointments around them. The key is to plan it, and it gets included without a problem. The life blood of our Association is your participation in it. I am looking forward to talking with many of you in the year ahead about joining in on the important work we do in serving our membership.
This is a gentle nudge from your President, and thank you in advance for your attention always. Any questions you may have about committee work or any other Association business, feel free to call and we can chat.
Pat
