As with all of astrology and cosmic evolution, the return of a cycle indicates the rising of similar events. As we herald the arrival of Neptune into its ruling sign of Pisces we stand on the cusp of enormous social upheaval, scientific discovery, and a recognition of the logic of mathematics. We will soon come to realize that mathematics governs the universe more than any other single force.  It is through careful study of repetitive cycles and seasons that we begin to find similarities that support the foundational structure of the universe. We have long used mathematics to solve our problems but as we enter this age we come to recognize it as the basis for life itself.

As logic becomes more pronounced we can recognize the instability of a social structure that is keenly out of balance. Just as mathematics provides logic and balance for all of matter, society must also be reflective of that quality. It is no small coincidence that as we approach this new epoch we are witnessing an unfolding of that very fabric. The vast chasm that exists amongst the many versus the few could reach a proportion that heralds revolution and sweeping reorganization. The fact that the collapse happened with such dire swiftness is indeed validation for its overdue necessity. When the water rises, the dam will burst.

Neptune is a planet representative of water, hence as it enters the sign of Pisces, a mutable water sign, we see it fitting in comfortably and with great effectiveness. When a planet enters the sign it rules we see great progress because we have reciprocity, compliance, and regeneration. Since this is the planet that also governs many social and human behaviors we can expect to see a heightening of that awareness. This great nebulous planet rules spiritualism, the collective subconscious, the laws of mathematics, fantasy and escape (addiction), along with dreams, inequality, illusion and delusion.

The single quality of illusion and delusion is perhaps Neptune's greatest claim. Under this influence we feel as if we are not seeing clearly; that life is witnessed through a coated lens. Like the world of film we see a surreal snapshot of reality; tangled and disjointed by placement, lighting, exposure and vision. In that mix of surreality comes a greater sense of the intangible spirituality of existence. We are at once drawn into a closer association with these realms. As we begin to deepen our view we are drawn to the esoteric sciences in an effort to find truth where it could not be found before.

This new-found curiosity comes as a direct result of the presence of logic. What was once taken as verbatim now comes under new scrutiny; and hence, new discovery. As we see the logic of the clicking mechanism of time and place we begin to formulate a new sense of comfort and explanation. As we find the correlations between these concepts we grasp what is truly real or at least what appears to be real. Therein, lies the trick of discretion. Using the deep well-spring of imaginative powers brought on by this planetary giant we can view this through eyes unknown to us before; as long as we recognize and exhibit discretion. This quality has strong Neptunian characteristics and can allow us to embrace new concepts, ideals, and values.

Neptune will transit Pisces for the next 14 years. During that time we can expect to see a restructure of the inequities of society and class; a broadening acceptance that reality as we have known it is anything but; and an abundance of awareness of new possibilities never before imagined. This will be a time to open the mind, but more importantly open the heart to the inevitable embrace of logic, truth, beauty and connection. Events may allow us to comply with reason as we deepen our understanding of coexistence and compassion. This will be a time of growth and reform. Welcome it with an open heart.

What delightful surprises await us as Venus joins unpredictable Uranus in the early degrees of fiery Aries? When we couple this with the Moon and Mars chatting away in Virgo looking for the details and the devil we have a spark for impulsive action of the sweetest kind. To top it off, Mercury joins in the conversation as it joins the Sun in the last sector of Aquarius. Week of February 13th

A rather tempestuous time as the Moon and Pluto gather for a brief conversation that sparks off Venus and Uranus. This square brings forth the tension inherent in our conversations and shifts the very foundation of what, just a week ago, we thought was solid and safe. It is through the tension that motion occurs and we should welcome it. The muddy waters are beginning to clear and our insights now push us to world affairs and politics as they become a driving force. Mercury joins Neptune and brings the dream to the center of the talk. Is this dream attainable? Of course. If you dream it; it can happen. There is nothing that can hold back the waters of change once the wave has motion.

Week of February 20th

Words take on powerful, yet subtle weight as Mars in retrograde opposes curious Mercury. This allows us a time to pause and reflect. Have we allowed too much to occur while we were preoccupied? The overwhelming distraction has us astray for too long. Our senses snap to attention as the Moon joins radical and spontaneous Uranus in impulsive Aries. We are mad as hell and we aren't going to take it anymore. The gathering storm has echoes of decades past when furor was the fuel that set us to the streets. The foundation is under duress and reconstruction is a vital ingredient for progress. The familiar may be headed for the bargain bin as the old way is no longer good enough. Sun and Neptune in Pisces bring a new awareness and depth.

Week of February 27th

Words fly with electrical charge as Mercury and Uranus together raise the dialog to a whole new level. This is not the time to be shy. The collective intellect should be ablaze with desire for correction. The Moon may tend to push the agenda as it opposes Pluto late in the week. This natural cardinal (initiating) energy heralds a bold new break with tradition and pattern. What once worked no longer fits the template and a shift gathers momentum in the underground. Pluto shakes the very foundation of convention and demands change as the pendulum swings towards the progressive light of innovation. Mars opposes the Sun and continues to retrograde as once concrete plans are now rethought.
